You know the solos from JT/LT and Zoo? THAT are solos, the way WOWY is played since PopMart is just inferior to the end eighties, first nineties. You can't speak of a solo anymore, it's just melody and chords.

Well, there's not much to add to what Casper said, other than there simple is no more solo in WOWY. To be honest, the solos started going out of fashion with the onset of Zooropa - if you listen to pretty much any version before late-1993, Edge would play a genuine solo (watch R&H as an easy example if you have it) before Shine Like Stars etc. Zooropa/Zoomerang tours, where there wasn't really anything other than an extra tweak to create a big climax, there's no longer any sort of solo which I think is linked to the fact that there's no more a regular place for snippets like Shine Like Stars, Love Will Tear Us Apart etc. On the PopMart, Milan, Slane and Boston DVDs, Edge just starts playing the same verse melody again. A solo would signify a clear change in the actual nature of the song as such, but since Zooropa started, the solo and snippets were dropped.

    Completely

    Sadly missed.....
  5. Listened carefully and you guys are right. Maybe they should rework it a bit live and bring that climax back.

  6. They'd have to. It was generally poor on Vertigo...
  7. If we talk about reworking... how about Bullet the Blue Sky? Edge reworked the solo nicely but the verses are not excited enough to play it one more tour. And I hope they will bring the Edge solo on Sunday Bloody Sunday.
  8. Not realistic, but I hope for this...

    1. New Song
    2. New Song
    3. UTEOTW

    26. New Song/40
  9. Well, they avoided the mid-80's a lot last tour. More so than any other time period. I'm hoping they bring those back. I want my first time seeing U2 to include songs like: (and I know I won't see all of them)
    Bad
    Streets
    WOWY
    Still Haven't Found
    Pride
Unforgettable Fire (that would be too cool, but I highly doubt it)
    Angel of Harlem
    All I Want Is You
    SBS

If they play those, and I know some of them will most likely be played (Streets, Pride, SBS) i'll be very very happy,

I do have a very strong feeling they'll be playing Wave of Sorrow a lot on the next tour. It seemed to be more less the big song off the bonus cd, Bono played it a couple times and talked about it a lot. So I think we'll see a sort of Miss Sarjevo type performance for that one. Edge on the keys and Bono singing.

Should be good no matter what the setlist though! I mean it's U2!

Pull out Pride, already one place left for a favourite...

  12. I'd love an 8-new song straight out the box list like ZooTV.

    PopMuzik => Mofo
    Lemon
    WOWY (with solo)
    COBL
    Streets
    Dirty Day
    Please
    Ultraviolet
    Acrobat
    New Song

as an encore. That will do nicely
