  1. Why are a lot of people so against Trip?
    It's a great country, feel good tune and it's pretty good live.

    (I also happen to like Elvis...)

    It's been said a lot....it's not that people dislike trip, the Joshua Tree is just such a strong album, and something has to give...and it's Trip for most people. Although, I do prefer it to the album version of "mothers". Trip isn't really a weak track, it just doesn't fit in with the rest of JT. I've read on a lot of forums that people feel that Heartland sounds more like a JT-style track, and that Trip, with the bluesy vibe, would work better on Rattle and Hum. All personal opinion though...

    Its just the weakest song on the album. I like it though


  4. the Guitar/Bass/Drums are good, but I think the Harmonica sort of defines the song. I doubt it would be that great without it

    It's a better fit than Mothers for sure. It's not a weak link IMHO.

    I agree it fits better on R&H, I think RTSS is a better blues song anyway, TTYW sounds humdrum. Mothers of the Disappeared is better (if only just) because it is more unique and innovative. And the other weaker songs; (One Tree Hill and Red Hill Mining Town) are still IMO better than TTYW.

    Also have they ever played Luminous Times live? as somone suggested
    And whoever said they like 4th of July, do you like as a concept? ie because the whole spontaneous recording thing is 'interesting'. Or do you actually like listening to it?
    Cause its like three chords and there's not much to listen to..


  9. I like all the songs on The Unforgettable Fire. Sure "Love Comes Tumbling" and "Three Sunrises" are great... maybe if they made it a double. "Sixty Seconds..." is great too.

    Even Elvis & America? I think people equate not disliking something to liking it...
    IMO the only album that you can say you like everything on it is Achtung Baby.
