1. Hello Everyone!

Ok i have a few questions about the PopMart Leeds bootleg sources:

Everyone knows that the most common bootleg from this gig is the french radio broadcast which is really annoying cos of the voiceovers which are placed (probably deliberately) in the worst possible places throughout the show.

SO originally i downloaded a version with the full french voiceovers included and it was quite bad quality in places (possibly due to a bad radio reception when it was taped). Then i managed to find a version that was MUCH better quality and someone had done the best anyone possibly could to remove the voiceovers. This version is great but there are still little bits of songs missing where the voice has been edited out.

BUT the main reason i have posted this question is Mysterious Ways... For some reason this song wasn't included in the French broadcast so it's taken from a different source to complete the show. The quality of this song is quite different from the rest of the show - the crowd noise is much less and it sounds like an almost totally professional recording in my opinion..

So heres the main question - is there a bootleg of the Leeds gig that comes entirely from that MW source? I can't believe that MW is the only song available so the whole gig from that source must exist as a bootleg somewhere!?

can anyone help please or shed some light!?

the reason i'm so desperate to get hold of the best POSSIBLE version of this show is it was my first U2 gig and also my first ever gig. I've uploaded a few photos i took that day in the photos section.

having collected a fair few PopMart bootlegs i have to say that this is probably the best show i have heard, the band is on absolute fire and unlike a lot of the pop shows bono's voice is amazing -he sings New Yrs Day like its 1983!. it has some of the best versions of songs i've ever heard. and i'm not saying that cos i'm biased. honest! what would people say are the other Pop shows that compare to this?

oh and one more question - are there any decent video recordings of this show? i've seen a couple of shocking crowd filmed bits on youtube but they really are bad. i can still remember seeing a couple of people with decent looking video cameras on tripods sneakily filming the whole thing. one was even up in one of the lighting towers!
  2. Can you upload the bootleg which has the best quality? I assume the French Broadcast is the one we have here? I have the bootleg but only listened to a few songs so far. Great you were there. This one is for you George, pump it up!
  3. the one we have on here is the broadcast with no announcer with MW patched in.

I am encouraged by your comments regarding multiple tri-pods and the guy on one of the lighting towers. It could easily make up a stunning multi-cam mix. Here's hoping. The only footage I have is a DVD from the source linked below. Not really great but a nice taper position that translates the Popmart hugeness very nicely onto screen :

  4. cheers!

so no one has any idea about the source of the MW recording? does anyone think it might be from the 'audience' recording in the link you posted? must get hold of that and check it out - is there any chance it will appear on here?

oh and cheers for the video link too - that was pretty much where i was standing! but the quality isn't too good looking -thats the one i've seen bits of on youtube.

oh and apparently the pics i put up from this gig aren't good enough quality?!?! imo they are better quality than some of the other photos i've seen .. ah well...

Did you not check the link i posted? You posted your query only last night. Some of our more knowledgable members might not have logged on yet. Patience. .

  6. sorry i was editing my post!
  7. One of the best gigs ever, legendary performance.

The best version circulating is "Pump It Up George" which is the bootleg, that's offered here. The jingles and announcers are cut, the bootleg slightly "remastered".
There is a complete audience recording, probably the one that got linked in this topic - but based on the quality of MW from this bootleg, it's clearly inferior to the broadcast/soundboard, whatever you wanna call it. So I wouldn't try too hard to get it.
The circulating video recording clearly suffers from a high generation source. Unfortunately it's the only one making the rounds.

Everytime you post anything that topic suffers the need of being closed. You're the most reliable source I ever heard

  9. Reading the original info file coming with the bootleg + a look on some lists + a little experience. Nothing mysterious, nothing fancy.
