One may think so from the sound of it, but as there is an expression that goes "wide awake" (= completely awake), one can easily understand he doesn't say "wide away" since that wouldn't make much sense at all...
  2. Saw a poll today on sky.com for the top ten misheard lyrics in popular songs. U2 were sixth with Mysterious Ways. The line 'she moves in mysterious ways' is commonly heard as 'shemu the mysterious whale'. Brilliant.
  3. That video is partly the funniest thing I've ever seen!

I got that for along time, made sense as well. Theres a lot of lyrics that make sense with a different word, and you don't realise until you read the lyrics.

Like i thought at the end of Yahweh, he sang "take this heart, and make it pray" when actually its make it break, and the actual lyric makes less sense.

and the Vertigo line 'you mightn't wonder' i hear as 'your mind can wander' I mean who says mightn't these days???

If English speakers are hearing things like shemue the mysterious whale, they need to get their ears checked, or get some commonsense, cause I have no idea how you can get that wrong, when the song is titled mysterious ways, I mean its not the theme song to some japanese anime series.
  5. Finally watched the vid....Electrical colslaw haha!
and: Bacon, Bacon and Haaaaaaaaam....loved that one...
  6. I heard (until very recently) "The end is not as far as the stars" in Original Of The Species instead of "The end is not as fun as the start"
  7. I just found out thanks to Ali in the Lyric Game topic that the lyrics of BTBS are Jacob wrestled the angel and not Jacob whisteld the angel as I thought them to be

I'm not a native English speaker so does whistle the angel make any sense at all?

    Ehm.......NO!
  9. Shamu, the mysterious whale jumps out at ya here; also, whenever I hear Zooropa, when Edge says his 'What do you want?' I hear in the background 'We'll jam yo'. I'm guessing it's the 'Quest-ce-que tu veux' but still.. Listen out for it
  10. That video is hilarious...an interesting one for me is from The Unforgettable Fire...the lyrics

"The wheels fly and the colors spin / Through alcohol"...

well, that's exactly what I heard!! and I always thought, nah, I'm hearing it wrong, it's not

    "through alcohol",

    it's probably "throughout the hall"...

I actually discovered that I've been hearing it right just when I was about to post my "mistake" here!

I thought it was 'I want away'

I think I misheard the vast majority of the lyrics to bad at the first 40 or so times of listening. the alternative ones made sense in my head and had meaning so I didn't see why they'd be wrong.
