    Chavez visits Fidel every year...when he was ill, Chavez was in Cuba almost every week.

    most developing countries have this sort of issue. heck, the longest stable govt in the world is the US Constitution. and we're one of the youngest countries in the world too......stability takes time.

    yeah, but the US stability is a legacy of its colonization...you could use your natural resouces, built a country. In Latin America we had to buy our independence, and we still don't know how to deal with it...maybe our economics is better, but politicaly we're close to Africa.

    Very nice discussion!!

    just a few comments:
    Chavez: well, first there was Fidel in Cuba... the we had Chavez in Venezuela.. Chavez is where he is right now thanks to Fidel... He has been going to Cuba ever since he took office... looking for advise... support (political support that is).... He's got in his favor OIL, he's got a fecking BLANK CHECK!!! to do whatever he wants and to buy whoever he wants... that is how he has remained in office... For the sake of been "obejctive" in this matter, I also have to say, that not ALL of Chavez' doing is wrong or bad, let's just say that most of it IS...

    So, then we move to Morales...
    Morales, was no-one, just a Union Jhon Doe... he worked his way up by selling Cocaine... for that's what his fields produced at the time.... He met Chavez a long time ago... and Chavez saw a "younger version" of himself in Morales... so he did what Fidel did with him, gave him political support... but Chavez didn't stop there, and financed Morales' presidential campaign... gave him large amounts of money, to make sure that he won.. and he did...
    If you have the time to study a little of history about the politics in Latin America for the past 10 to 15 years.... you'll see that Chavez' strategy has been very successfull....
    Morales has done almost the same things that Chavez did when he took office...

    I might also add, that Correa (Ecuador) and Ortega (Nicaragua) are also two presidents whose campaing was also financed with Venezuela's OIL money...

    and if you're still interested in getting to know a little more about Chavez, his relationship with Argentina's government, look up this name on the internet: Guido Antonini Wilson and you'll be surprise about what you'll find...

    it's a real shame... but that's as good as it gets...

    and I really don't think we can call a "Revolution" what's going on in Venezuela or Bolivia... there's a very bad social, economical and political crisis.. in both countries and I'm saving myself of including a lot more countries on the list....
    but there's nothing Revolutionary in neither of these governments... it's just a charade... the situation is getting bad, there's no improvement it's just political speeches and promises that neer come true...

    I could go on... but I'll do it later if anyone is interested...
    this is my honest opinion, I lived in Venezuela for 19 years, and that's why I know so much about Chavez and Morales... I still have all my friends in Venezuela, and I have a few friends from all over, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, etc...

    I heard about the suitcase scandal ...that's pretty bad
    I'm not sure if Brazil is involved with stuff like that...but maybe there's a big chance that Lula's gov't is involved in those scandals...months ago, a Brazilian magazine reported that Lula's govt has close connections with FARC.

    Well, we have the 'fab four': Castro, Chavez, Correa and Morales.

    Johnny, do you know about 'Foro de Sao Paulo'? I read an arcticle about its meeting, it's a real shame... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foro_de_Sao_Paulo
    I'm not anti-left, but the Foro is a chance to politians to make ilicit agreements and most part of the members support groups like FARC.

    I don't think that Lula is involved in the suitcase issue.... He might be involved, but not in the way you believe, he might show up in a few months as a moderator in the conflict between Venezuela and Argentina VS USA... since nowadays Brazil is one of the biggest allies of the US in South America (bio-fuel)

    I heard about the FSP before... To me it's really irrelevant, they might have some serious discussions and debates and agreements, but I sincerely believe that the Communist's Party are useless and pretty much dead in the whole of Latin America... eventhough they're not actually dead, they're very weak and they can't pull off any stunts these days...
    so besides signing a "Manifest" they're not doing anything else...
    IMHO....

    I'm sorry to hear this for my American friends, but it isn't really a surprise...the banks could've seen this one coming...
    They lend everyone their money, without knowing if those people can pay it back...then you get problems...
