The other stuff I like is very obscure; I guess that's what old record stores are good for. Passengers deserves a mention for being hard to order in - possibly the second-hardest yet; only one place in Ireland (of all places) could find it. And then, it was still sealed - not bad for a 13 year old album! If you can get it cheap, make sure you pick it up. Some real gems there.

I'm really pleased with Forty Licks and Thriller.

I got Zooropa for $5, God bless our record store and I think I should get Pop before I get Passengers

  2. Pop is a true classic; better than the last two albums put together. Why it's not played more is a mystery. Leave Passengers as a last purchase; I agree.

While I see others going in the record stores picking up so-called pop, rock and punk, I'm picking up albums from 1970 and even earlier.

You can easily order the Passengers album on Amazon and other sites...
  4. To Australia? Do you like it at all?

Lol, if it makes you feel better, I'm one of the only kids at my school who goes to a record store and then I buy some sort of album that makes my parents wonder where they went wrong

Same here. I don't see an awful lot of kids going to record stores nowadays; why?

You get a CD with maybe 15 songs - seven are crap - and, what's the point. Under A Blood Red Sky this week!

  7. Passengers are cool stuff. With the cheap dollar, ordering from the US can be a bargain.
Anyway, I just wanted to show that Passengers are not hard to get (at least not in Europe or the US)

Yeah, it's understandable as to why they don't go, but I love going to our record store, they've got all these gigantic posters of a lot of my musical heroes everywhere, they're lots of cool T-shirts(I always look, but I never buy 'em ) and the music at our record store is pretty inexpensive You're right though, a lot of newer albums have a few really good songs, and the rest just suck, very few truly great albums now

Not a bad price there. A quarter of what I paid....

And when you hear a great song (from now), you think "Shit, people are still making great music". I think a lot of the stuff has been done - the big shows have been seen, the innovation has well-gone and people don't have long attention spans, as they did in the 60s - early 90s - so you've gotta have something great within the first few minutes. This is something I've rarely heard in a long time.

A bit like How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Five or six good songs, but the rest are nothing thrilling.

Looking on Amazon.com at Top Downloads: Doll Domination, Katy Perry, Rhianna, Flo Rida, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, Jason Mraz...who?

iTunes (Australia) is pretty much the same...Lady GaGa?

Dammit, why can't people like Arcade Fire be more popular??

  12. They are in Europe. The new AC/DC stuff sounds great too - I'll be grabbing that very soon.

But the new Coldplay album didn't interest me in the slightest, no matter how good others thought it was. Speed of Sound was a great song and even cooler videoclip. Another thing many artists need to stop doing is bringing out "Best Of" sets. One particular artist, a favourite of mine, brings out so many of these. You have 12 in the last few years, with the same songs exactly on every freaking album, and remasters, video hits and re-issues and special editions!

Bring out some new stuff, and stop re-hashing your old stuff.
