  3. I agree about the fact that U2's concerts are themed. Each tour had a theme, and it would be sort of disappointing to go to a concert and just hear songs being played out. A U2 concert is a really special experience (so I've heard) and I don't think it's only because of the songs. Most of it is, but I think a lot of it is also the vibe given off at the concerts. And that vibe doesn't only come from the music, but the way it's being presented and the way the band presents themselves and the atmosphere they're trying to give. The elevation tour didn't have as obvious a theme as Popmart or ZooTV, but it did have one. It was very similar to the UF theme. It was intimacy. UF and Elevation were both meant to bring everyone together, almost as if U2 was playing in a club, somewhere that was small enough to feel cozy with the band. During the Rutherford show (longest version of Bad from the UF tour) he says (and this is ironic because we were talking about Bruce)

    "You know, we were always afraid of playing large places like this, large stadiums like this. That sort of thing belonged to all of the bands that we didn't want to be. That is until we saw Bruce Springsteen, and he could turn a big place like this into a small intimate place. We feel very much that's whats happened over the last tour and we hope you feel the same way" (Maybe not word for word, but he said that)

    Anyway, U2 concerts always have a theme. And that's one of the things that sets U2 concerts apart from every other concert. We need a theme! But I don't think we can predict it until we hear the new album. If it's a rock-ish album like Bomb, I think it will be the sort of same thing as the last tour. Hopefully not, I want something new!
