1. The best would be Keane and maybe Franz Ferdinand.
And I didn't know about Kanye West, but he's immidiately the weakest.
  2. Bit harsh on Kanye i think. Im going to see him next month at the O2. Think its important to appreciate other types of music and the man is certainly one of the most talented musicians/songwriters/producers/singers/rappers around....he does the lot!!!

Bono also thinks highly of him as he personally introduced him a few times!

So I would quite like to see someone a bit different......maybe even JayZ after his Glastonbury perfoemances!!

But more realistically I would quite like to see Keane also!
  3. ...U2 were the best support act The Police ever had ...

    lol
  5. Starsailor made a solid gig before U2 on the stade de France, 09 july 2005, the audience listened all the show, it was a good opening!
  6. One can only judge a support act one has witnessed - and since I don't remember most of the acts I've seen, I think none of them left a big impression. The Stereophonics were quite good, though.

    I agree with you,
but one night, in 1996 in Nantes (France), I assisted at a Blur's gig, and on support a small rock band called "The Ramtals" done an awesome show, they didn't stole the show, but nearly..
and, Friends, two good gigs on one night, I was KO four hours later, a memorable night.
And for U2, I never lived that, but one day...on the sumer 2009...why not... but wich band? truly I don't see...

I can't remember the second support act at Popmart Wembley, but they were poor. First band on (Longpigs) were ok.

Worst for me were JJ72 at Earl's Court Elevation. Dire.

    Clarified topic title

Could have been Audioweb,Dan.They had a really shit cover version of The Clash's "Bank Robber" out at the time. Was the lead singer black ? I went the night before you Popmart Wembley on the Friday,22nd.The guy stopped his band in the middle of a song, and said something like..."..look,there's a fight there.Go on hit him back !!" or something so the dickhead encouraged a fight in the crowd.I thought the Longpigs weren't too bad.As soon as they came on stage,I remember the lead singer taking a photo of the crowd !

Best support act I ever saw was Cast @ Leeds PopMart, pissing rain,John Power at his best and they're from my neck of the woods so it made it even better.Closely follwed by Bjork @ Wembley Zooropa 93,brilliant she was,Stereo MC's werent too bad either.

Worst ? Kellis,Elevation @ Manchester by a country mile, she was just fecking dreadful.Go back the second night and she's on again, time to hit the bar I think.......closely followed by P J Harvey, poor girl. There were a few bottles thrown from the crowd at her let me tell you.....

Other support acts I've seen include ; Big Audio Dynamite II,Snow Patrol,The Bravery,Athlete & Idewild.

I saw Starsailor support The Police June this year, very impressed with them.
  9. I just realised that I've seen The Thrills not only as a support act for R.E.M. but for U2, too. Guess that makes them the best support act. Stereophonics 2nd now.
  10. the best for me was Feeder in Gelsenkirchen

and the worst definitely The Zutons in Munich
  11. I was dissapointed in 92 because Public Enemy was supposed to be the opener, and then wasn't. Big Audio Dynamite was great though. They fit Zoo TV. I like when a band has an influence on the bill. I got told to stop talking when Garbage was onstage before Elevation. I didn't know their fanbase was so ravenous.
  12. My parents told me that The Ramones were great up there in 1993...
And of course UB40, supporting U2 for their first show in spain, were fantastic (in words of my father - I wasn't even born)
