    No, I'm not gonna help uploading lossless boots here unless there is a special request I could fulfil . I've done my part in sharing over the years + I'm more interested in videos these days. To your example: If there is a difference between the lossy and the lossless version of that said gig, it's just a matter of replacing the lossless version with the original lossless file the 128k mp3s were taken from. No big deal.
    But these are bootlegs from the past where "the damage is done" anyway. My main concern is new boots that surface like the Bologna one.

    These 90% come from my own perception. No scientific source or anything. It's just what I observed. What happened to the Vertigo tour and happens to Coldplays Viva tour right now is that some of the best recordings (and many standard ones) don't make it to the public because taper's wishes aren't respected.

    I personally don't have a major problem with lossy files - but obviously the taper here has, that's where I come from. And again, for personal use, do with the files what you want.

    If you share the files, share them in the best quality. If you share inferior files, that's not fair.




    You've lost me....I thought this was u2start, not a traders den. If u2start went lossless only, it would lose respect from the average fan. Second, I am no asshole. If the taper wants to be one, fine. Some person they are.

    So the 90% is matter of opinion....usually people use percents when they are certain it's corect. In this case, it isn't 90 by a longshot. You forget about countries where connections aren't as fast. Everyone is in my mind.

    Mp3s may be inferior to lossless, but you don't see lossless stuff sold on 7digital or itunes, now do ya? The day lossless takes over is when it's supported on portable music players. And right now, it's not present.

    Why can't this bologna gig be shared in mp3? When i share something, its 'ipod ready' and in best possible quality for portable music players. If for some odd reason chris martin said he wants it shared in mp3 (very unlikely he gets involved), doesn't the artist get a say? And what makes the taper better than I? You said it yourself, "he is no bigger an asshole than you or I". The fan has rights too. It may be his tape, but in reality the artist owns it.

    Where I'm most confused is why this is a big deal. On second thought, it is. Should I take it down? No. My reason? It's like telling Remy to take down u2 boots here because they aren't lossless.

    Lastly, I notice we fight too much. Why can't we be friends?
  4. The taper spent hundreds of dollars on equipment, snuck them into a coliseum past security, sat upright and taped the show from start to finish. Without potty breaks or taking some time to sit down, no cheering or talking, just being as quiet as possible while those around them likely talked throughout the show, were on their cellphones, or were loud and obnoxious. He transferred the tape to the PC and shared it freely for everyone to enjoy.
    All he kindly asked was not to spread it in lossy formats.
    Spreading lossy shows like this where the taper explicitly demanded to share it in lossless formats will discourage this taper to share more stuff, will discourage other tapers to share their stuff and shows the lack of respect for the taping community.

    I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm attacking you or something, I know you have the best intentions.

    I see where we got lost...you were fighting for taper, I was fighting for portable users. Too much distance between the two. Perhaps my topic title should be changed to 'ipod ready coldplay shows' to clear up confusion. Should a lossless topic be made? Yup

    no need for a new topic. Just post the lossless links along with the lossy ones in the same way you have already been doing.

    If you want the bst ipod compatible format then use apple lossless.

    Everyone can make their ipod ready files from the lossless stuff. Takes 5 minutes. No one cares what people do in private. Just don't upload the lossy files. That's all.
  8. Well, here my 2 cents about their show last Friday in Rotterdam, which I attended.

    It was simply magnificent. You can't compare the album versions of the Viva La Vida album to the live versions. They're simply much better live. They performed great that night, and there was much interaction with the crowd. The stage looked very nice (I was right beside of it, Chris walking just 2 meters in front of me(A)).

    Highlights:

    - 'The Scientist' played on a C-stage right in the middle of the crowd at the other side of the venue

    - The performance of 'Lovers In Japan' with falling paper butterflies

    - The whole crowd yelling that 'Ooooeeeeaaah'-part during Viva La Vida ( we even kept yelling that on the Rotterdam train station with dozens of people, a bit comparable with 'How long to sing this song')

    - Clocks, which is always a highlight.

    No, Coldplay aren't as big as U2. The bands aren't even comparable, there are huge differences. But they've got one thing in common: they're at their best during a live show.
    Next time they're around I'm in for sure!


  9. Glad you had a good show. The idea to play The Scientist and Death will never conquer in the ranks is pretty cool indeed. A shame only that they decided to play that lame version this tour.
    I also loved the butterflies. Took a few home with me. The sound of the machines blasting out the paper even adds to the song. :-)
