1. I'm really pissed off by this delay. Not because of the actual waiting, I can cope with that. It's the reason they're delaying it: I can't be sure of course, but I suspect that they think the material is too rough, and they want to spend more time on refining and re-recording etc. If that's true, I fear the new album is gonna be the same as HTDAAB. A not so good, somewhat boring, plain rock album. That's playing safe. I'm a big fan of Pop because it was the almost the opposite of that: experimental and finished quite early in the recording process, although the latter was of course unintentional. But still that's what makes it so good in my opinion: it's a rough and unpolished record. It gives all the songs a real fresh feel instead of something that's been thought about too much. They're not unfinished, like some people say (except for maybe If God Will Send His Angels), they're just pure, like they should be, and not mixed 10 times too many.
HTDAAB could have been a great record, if they had finished it earlier. Imagine: Native Son instead of Vertigo, Xanax and Wine instead of Fast Cars, and the earlier versions of All Because of You, Yahweh and Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own instead of their newer counterparts (although I also quite like the version of SYCMIOYO featured on the album). That would have been a much more daring record, and so much better! But I guess U2 is just too afraid for the same criticism they received on Pop, both from media and fans. That's a shame, because if they leave the songs for what they are at the right time, ensuring that the spirit and freshness from all those various jamming sessions are still in them, they could make their best record since a long time.
  2. Well I agree on this. Pop is one of their best album, because it's not a safe one.
  3. POP is the best u2 album

You already said it yourself: You are guessing that some kind of overproducing is the reason for the delay. But nobody knows if that's true. So why getting mad already?

I think some official news about the album name and release date will come within the next two months

    Smartass

No, but you know what I mean: if the reason for the delay is working too much on the songs, then I'm pissed off.
  7. Pop = best album? And Zooropa? Only my money's worth, but fuck off are they the best lol...perhaps they can be considered sonically adventurous and inventive, but that doesn't equate to best in my books. JT and Achtung Baby are superior in my opinion, because they work as musical entities and they all keep a staple theme successfully. Pop could have been one of the great albums, but it didn't take off, and Zooropa's just, well, it's experimental music, like Pink Floyd with a touch of Edge madness. I do still love the latter 2, but I think there's a reason why JT and AB are (and rightly so) more celebrated works.
