  1. I found a great version of this song I don't think too many are aware of. It has a superb, unique
    (as far as I know) solo towards the end by The Edge, and is performed outstandingly in general;

  4. Paris isn't bad at all, but it isn't better than Amsterdam (vertigo) or Stockholm (ZooTV), while I feel this version offers something special, exceptional

  6. the May 28 (i think) Vertigo show had a good solo at the end too, a surprisingly good performance for not having been played in so long. When U2 brought Please back in Baltimore, they played it like they wrote it yesterday and kinda forgot what they were doing. Larry can't seem to settle on a drum part and Bono doesn't remember all the lyrics, surprise. It's more like the album version

    For me, Paris is the best I've heard so far. Much better than any Vertigo version, and also Stockholm, but thanks for the East Rutherford tip - I'll keep that in mind

    The Boston performance was brilliant, because it was like the days of old with how they segued it from UTEOTW etc., and just the nostalgia surrounding it, but Edge clearly hadn't come up with a definite solo idea because it does come across as if he hit a few dud notes BUT it doesn't detract overall from a terrific performance and what is my favourite encore.

  10. I second that. The Wild Horses topic was an idea that Harry and I flirted with a long time ago but it never really took off. Totally appropriate to devote a topic to the best tune they've ever recorded.
  12. I've actually found that no live version ever quite reaches the heights of the studio version. Bono's never quite nailed the final "Don't you look back!" in concert the way he did in AB.
