1. Just got back from voting. I was paranoid about three hour lines next Tuesday. I had mixed feelings. I wanted to make sure I voted, but I do enjoy being involved in the hustle and bustle of election day. I'm a civics geek that way.

  2. Not being funny Sergio, but considering we all try to keep this forum a fairly reasonable and well-mannered place, essentially calling someone a liar doesn't really contribute to such a concept lol. Fair enough if you disagree, but regardless, I think there are more tactful ways of going about disagreeing with someone...polls are not an accurate measure, they're a means of gauging an indicative opinion, but considering it is conducted using a sample and not the entire population (or even the entire voting population), you can't necessarily go by it, which I think is probably Aaron's point.

Anyway, going back to yeah's point about the hype about a potential black president or a woman VP, I can't help but think back to a Tom Clancy novel (can't remember which one it is unfortunately). I know they're fiction, and not a genuine representation of life as we know it, but in said novel, a black man is voted president but only weeks or so into the presidency, he's assassinated because he's black. If Obama does become president, I only hope that remains fiction and not reality.

Clancy is one of my favirote authors. His books have predicted all kinds of things. In Debt Of Honor, the capitol building fallss too a terrorist attack from a suicide airliner. It was written like five years before 9/11.

I was joking, I respect everydoby's arguments and opinions. I was joking, cos of course I know that polls are lies themselves, and therefore all that +/- 3% methods are lies too I only wanted to show how near Obama is of the White House
  5. I voted today

I hear ya, I voted early for the same reasons but would gladly wait to do so. It makes me feel proud to be an American, which isn't always easy

Exactly. I haven't read one single thing about political ideas and solutions for the economic problems in my (dutch) paper. It's all about Obama being muslim and useless info about McCain's grandfather and I-don't-know-what...

i have to sadly agree, but those are trivial issues that don't really matter or make or break a campaign

I would have waited, but I have to bring both of my kids with me, both of whom are under 4, and I don't know if they would have. So it was nice to have the option.

I completely agree with you Yeah. Its horrible that it has taken this long for either a black man or women to be seriously considered for such a high position in office. It should not have taken well over 200 years for this to happen. My point is that I'm just so excited that its finally going to happen.

Still a LOT of racism, fear and xenophobia in the world. Saw some frightening T.V. grabs from average Americans in the southern states on the news this evening.
