1. An Acoustic version of POP would great. Please, wake up and staring at the sun all sounded a lot deeper when played in their "stripped back" versions.
Maybe an ambient dusting from Eno would work with this.

it would be cool, especially since the main idea behind POP was hand played electro and whatnot. Strip it of its effects and see the genius that really makes this album special.

So an acoustic version of Pop? Sounds interesting - all you'd have to do would be to do some channel shifting in some audio editing app. Audacity or Adobe Audition would do a fine job of shifting channels and raising the vocal levels, then burn it back to disc, and there you have your bare bones version of Pop.

That said, I'd love the album if it was done over soft melodic music. Was Eno even involved in Pop?
  4. I love POP just the way it is. I highly doubt that any acoustic studio recordings are availible.

(Please excuse my negativity lol. I'm posting via iPod lol)
  5. An acoustic version of Pop?

That would just be boring, Pop was all about the effects and the experimentation.

I would think that an album as innovative as Pop would be stifled by an acoustic version.
what would set it apart then? The songwriting isn't exceptionally strong to justify barebones versions.

What Pop really needs is to be 'finished'.
  6. I always thought that the stripped down versions of some Pop songs they played, didn't do justice to the original quality of the tracks.
Staring at the sun lost a lot of it's atmosphere, Please lost the whole intensity and Wake up dead man without the distortion and drums is just boring.
So a "bare bones-Pop" would certainly not be my favourite project...
Same for a "re-worked Pop". The album is amazing the way it is.

Agree with everything you just said.

  8. Indeed. I'd be a bit annoyed if they reworked the album - remastering is fine, but not reworking. The remix versions on the 1990-2000 disc are beyond terrible.

ah, I quite like Gone. And the different start to Discotheque mirrored the live performances, so that's ok too

SATS sucks balls however, I agree.

I am not a fan of the SATS remix (can't recall whether the Gone remix was any good), with Discotheque, I can never decide which version is better, so I listen to both.

But I think most people would be happier if Pop was finished as the band would have liked it to be originally, if they hadn't run out of time. Not every song has to be changed, but some songs would benefit from more time.

It would have been nicer if they'd come up with a less intimidating cover. They needed something different.
