1. Perhaps now is the best time for me to post my review of Slane...

Where did all the free time go...
  2. Where did it all go wrong? What about your Elevation 3rd leg?
  3. I guess we're talking about the DVD?

Elevation: Simply great, as was it the complete Elevation-tour. Love the intermezzo
BD: Definitely one of the best ever. Love the ending where Bono's voice gets 'split'
UTEOTW: One of the better versions. Great snippet of Two Tribes and great acting between Bono and Edge
New Year's Day: Great how Bono refers to the Football match Ireland-Holland. Decent performance
    OOC: Beautiful, great speech inbetween.
SBS: One of the best versions ever. Great intermezzo. And the ending gives me chills every time
    WUDM: Cool, nice filmed.
    SIAMYCGOO: Not cool
Kite: Good version, but I've heard better. The long note is perfect
AOH: Great link between normal set and acoustic set. Performance is okay.
    Desire:
SATS: Didn't really liked it. Prefer it PopMart-style: played with two guitars.
    AIWIY: Best version ever
Streets: Best version ever, highlight of U2's career
Mysterious Ways: Should've been in the main dvd. Love the Elevation-MW's and this one is awesome with Bono's daughter
    Pride:
BTBS: One of the best...love the way Bono plays with the light
    WOWY:
    One:
Walk On: Decent, there are better tough...

OVERALL: Best dvd-performance, but definitely not the best performance ever. And it misses The Fly; a U2-show without The Fly isn't half as fun as with The Fly.

    Hope this helped you!
  4. For me UTEOTW is the absolute down of the DVD, not because of the performance itself (which is "very good" for me, not "ex") but for the editing. WTF? Now daylight, now Bono sings without microphone, now night, day, night, day... Not good

Alright, it's awesome, stunning and much others... But best version ever? Man, how many Joshua's&Lovetown's did you hear before posting that? Even some Zoo performances are above Slane. The intro of Slane is just PERFECT, but Bono screws up the song from the first word. If Edge would have sung it, it would've been best version ever; not with Bono's voice

I haven't even noticed the editing on UTEOTW...

I love Bono's voice there...way better than his voice on the JT/Lovetown versions. I love the combination between his high ZooTV voice and his raw Vertigo voice...
And as you say yourself: The intro is just perfect.
And the crowd is just awesome there.

Watch out in UTEOTW, there's daylight footage instered all throughout the song. It's pure crap.

Regarding the voice, I prefer the Elevation one to the Vertigo or PoPmart ones, but that doesn't make it perfect. 1985-1989 was his golden age, and 1989-1993 the silver... From 1993 it has onle been a slight shade of what it used to be Anyway, I respect your opinion, of course

And of cousre, Slane crowd is one of the bests I ever heard.

    I will!

Phew, I'm glad you respect my opinion! lol
I understand that most people prefer Bono's JT-era voice, but I find it a bit to forced...
Anyway; his Vertigo and PopMart voice were most horrible

Alright, we've come to an agreement eventually

PS. I meant "...footage inserted all...", I wrote it pretty badly

  9. May I correct you? 1983-1989 Golden age..and why not putting 92 and 93 to it either. But that's me
  10. for me one of the best streets performances is the one on the ZooTV Sydney DVD. The looooing zoo era intro, the stage and Bono's voice among other stuff are wonderful.
Of course, Slane's INTRO is one of the best ever.

I definitely think his late 80s voice was forced....his voice now just sounds completely natural....he did some wonderful things with it in the 90s where it didn't feel forced but still had something to it. I argue his voice is best now because he is just singing his heart out, from the soul. and by God, it sounds great.....I have no complaints about Slane, it's top notch, everyone plays and sounds great on it

EDIT: this is not to say I don't like this late 80s voice, just that it's not really that natural, but good for the period

Bono's voice let down Sydney Streets. He sounds a key to high and it kills the power. Compare it to Dublin and see. . .. . . . . . Borderline off topic. . . .
