Americas governments trough years were the same as governments in Balkan countries...just in the nicer package.

As far as I know, Islam recognizes and accepts the previous prophets and holy books (keep in mind we consider Jesus Christ to be a prophet), but the rules aren't all the same. All islamic rules are to be extracted from the Quran. Now, in Quran, there is this verse, which says that there is nothing worse than taking a life, killing a person, the only situation where you might do it is if it is a punishment for murder or someone who causes "terror in the land". The next verse says that the families of victims have the right to ask for this punishment, but it persuades them to forgive the criminal and let him/her live.

The Old Testament is a mixture of myth,legend and actual history, not all of it actually happened, its the underlying meaning that matters.
God has never demanded human sacrifice, and I think he wrote on some tablets something about killing...
