1. going to see Quantum of Solace tonight
  2. Me and the boy just watched Surf's Up.

Forrest Gump, on the other hand... Right wing propaganda that is unwatchable rubbish Better than Pulp Fiction? Don't make me laugh.

I think you are being a little hard on Forrest Gump. It's a nice movie. But no it is not in the same league as Pulp Fiction. The Oscars swung and missed on that one.

Right wing propaanda?! What the hell? Man, I think we've seen different movies, then... In my opinion, Forrest Gump is the BEST critic ever made to the American political&social system (which is obviously based on right-wing-ed fundaments)... When he says "then, after 5 years playing football, I was given an official University title" is like... OMG
  5. Quantum of Solace. Superbly superb.

The film puts forward the idea that simply doing what you're told will somehow make everything alright, no matter how stupid one might be - authority is always right and absolutely knows best. That's fascism, isn't it? "Why did you fix that gun so fast, Gump?" "Because you told me to, drilll sergeant!" "That may be the best single answer I've ever heard!" Or it goes something like that... And that's the tone of the whole film. Jenny gets AIDS (it's certainly the HUGE implication) because she acted like a 'slut' and opposed/rejected authority. Seriously, look at the film again - it's saying she got what she deserved. Just a couple of reasons why the film is cack...

I'm taking Film Studies myself - second year - but that film got on my tits long before I got off my arse and went to get an education. "Alex, your dad just won the Academy Award!" Dear oh dear...
