  5. Great intro Sean! Welcome here!
    Greetings from Brazil
  6. Thanks for all the welcomes folks - it's nice to feel at home etc. Yeah, I guess I have been lucky in that I live in Ireland and have managed to go to every tour since ZOO. The 2nd night at Slane has to be my favourite gig however.

Back then the tickets were just announced on the radio on one particular day as being available and luckily I got myself to a computer and managed to bag 6 there and then. After that, I actually arranged a minibus to take me and all my mates to the gig from our house in Dublin where we were staying at the time; but don't you know that my friends, none of whom would be as big a u2 fan as me, all went out drinking the night before in anticipation of the gig (at least that was their excuse); and so they were really hungover the next morning and obviously a nightmare to get up and get going for the gig.

Anyway, our minibus duly arrived on time; but strangely enough it was driven by a man of Indian extraction. Now I''ve nothing against anybody's creed or colour; but something told me that perhaps this guy mightn't be the best person to drive to Slane, which is after all, a sleepy little village in Co. Meath? My fears were well founded when our driver took one wrong turn too many; and we ended up in a village called Nobber, Co. Cavan - well off the beaten track so-to-speak!!

All my friends thought this was hilarious of course; and it was only when I got up and roared at him to turn around, that we finally got going in the right direction. Anyway, we made it to Slane for just about midday, and actually got in through one of the lesser gates just as they opened them.

All worked out well when we all legged it down the field (not to be recommended, as the slope can be quite dangerous!!); and managed to get into the area just outside the inner heart - it was a pretty perfect spot to be honest, as you could take in all the stage, but still see the boys doing their stuff!!

Anyway, I'll always remember that day, both for my misadventure in getting there; but more importantly for how brilliant a gig it was. Popmart comes a close second however, but that's a topic for another day.

Thanks again for all the welcomes.
    Cheers,
    Sean.
