  1. I don't know if anyone else experiences this as a massive U2 fan, but there are certain songs in their catalogue that people really love, but I find it difficult to get into them. I really don't want to dislike them. I even make an effort to get into those songs, but I just can't. I'm mainly referring to the popular ones. Everyone has U2 songs that they dislike. These are the ones that get played often that I can't seem to get into. Here are a few of mine.

    - Miss Sarajevo (I think parts of this song are excellent, but the whole just doesn't work for me. I really want to like it, but I can't get into it)

    - New Years Day (It has a great hook, a great rhythm to it, and it makes me think that it's going to take off, but it never does. The closest it comes is "The newspapers say it''s true, it's true / We can break through")

    - Stuck in a Moment (I really liked this when I first heard it, and then it just kind of died for me. I haven't been able to get it back since)

    - All Because of You (The chorus is kind of a let down for me. I think the melody line of the verse is pretty solid, though. Honestly, the should have used Are You Gonna Wait Forever instead of this)

    Miss Sarajevo - Watch the video, and listen to it live on the Vertigo tour.

    New Years Day - Listen to the one on the POPMart Mexico DVD.

    Stuck In a Moment - Give a good listen to Edge's falsetto. It rocks.

    All Because Of You - I agree that the chorus lets it down, but listen to just the intro to the Alt. version.

  3. there will come a time that you'l kinda like NYD but the rest aren't worth the effort. I go on and off Miss Sarajevo myself but the album version just doesn't seem to know where to go with itself.

    I agree, NYD isn't that great on the album, and is very rarely performed well.



    Just listen to the Guitar and only the guitar lol. otherwise, its crap
  6. I've never really liked Miss Sarajevo. It's good, but not as good as people say it is. Another song I've never been able to love is Kite...

    Yeah, but live it really is breathtaking

    And I think that NYD is incredibly overrated, it's good, but not THAT good

    Other than that, stick to the guitar, and the intro...

    That's the thing about these songs is that I've heard them dozens and dozens of times in their live and album versions, and they just don't seem to do it for me. The only one that I really go back and forth on is SIAMYCGOO, and it is mainly due to that end bit with Edge's falsetto and Bono's voice together. That is really amazing.

    Kite is probably one of my favorite U2 songs. It's just so beautifully simple. That synth riff at the beginning and through the verse under Edge's slide guitar. It is so simple, but so amazing. And then of course there is such rich meaning behind what Bono is singing. The writing is amazing. I still get chills when I hear "I'm a man / I'm not a child." The Slane version is brilliant.
