Well, my friend gives me a lift home every week in his small car while playing Muse at ludicrously high volumes (like he's cruising to hip hop or something) so forgive me if i'm not their biggest fan.

And I agree on your CP song choices, better than GPASOYF or Yellow.
Maybe Viva La Vida or Violet Hill will do, but I guess we want traditional sounding Coldplay, what about The Scientist?

  4. Your playlist must be submitted via the appropriate page on the Absolute Radio site by 23.59 (GMT) on Sunday 23 November 2008.
  5. Then it's time to make some decisions!
I see we all agree on One and Streets. Further most of us seem to agree on Clocks. We will have a Beatles song and most of us seem to agree on REM...I think Losing My Religion or Everybody Hurts would do...
    Everybody agree on this?

Maybe Fix You/ Viva La Vida instead of Clocks, which both charted in the UK higher than Clocks (VLV is their most successfull single).
I don't think the Fly holds up too well these days, it's a bit strange, remember what they said when they left it off best of 1990-2000. Perhaps SBS, or Vertigo, COBL etc. or something else I haven't thought of yet like WGRYWH.

And we have to pick bigger bands than Keane, we have limited spots.
And why not more famous songs from Sting like Fields of Gold, Every Breath You Take and what about something more lively for Springsteen like Dancing in the Dark (it's still gets people singing/dancing along today).

I think the Killers should be on there as well, Hot Fuss was huge in the UK.

And I think One, Streets, WOWY, BD are all no brainers for the U2 choices.

  8. But we first need to make a list before they can approve it, right?

Okay, then we have quite some choices for the other 4 U2-songs. I see most popular are:
    - BD
    - The Fly
    - ISHFWILF
    - WOWY
    - NYD
    - Bad
    - AIWIY
    - maybe Kite?
I guess we should choose 4 out of those

Then we still need 3 'other artists'. I heard:
    - Bob Dylan
    - Muse
    - Radiohead
    - The Verve
    - Oasis
    - The Who
    - David Bowie
    - Keane
    - The Police
    - The Killers
    - Rolling Stones/David Bowie/Queen/few I might forgot...

Wait, the time is nearly 12 AM in London, which means we have 12 more hours, am I right?

One, BD, WTSHNN, WOWY, perhaps Vertigo or SYCMIOYO (the only other #1 UK hits in the 2000s), perhaps COBL or All I Want Is You.

I would say for other artists: Springsteen, Oasis, The Killers, Coldplay, The Beatles/Lennon are good choices. We can choose another from the rest.

    Okay, good list!
    As said before:
    WTSHNN
    One
    Coldplay - Clocks
    REM - Losing My Religion
    The Beatles - (Some song)
I think we already have these 5...

Ah, to be honest I can appreciate why you'd not be too enamoured with them if that's the case lol...I don't listen to Muse THAT much, but I still rate them, but I can imagine I'd get a bit fed up with them if my only experience of listening to them was as yours is - I'm the same with my brother in his Land Rover, he sticks all his metal music like Nightwish, Iron Maiden etc. on and has little or no regard for his eardrums or mine. I'm not a big metal fan for it lol...

Viva La Vida is tempting replacement for Clocks (or Fix You), just because it has been so unbelievably successfull http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viva_la_vida

I don't know much of the Beatles catalog, but something that still sounds fresh today like 'Hey Jude' (which is RS 7th greatest song of all time) or perhaps Lennon's Imagine (which is 3rd on that list). Maybe both, but probably not, there aren't enough spots to give someone two billings, and Hey Jude is seven minutes, which might rule it out.

And we still have 12 hours left right?, in that case I'll be up in 8 or so, to see where things have progressed. Only submit it in the last hour or so.
