I don't know much of the Beatles catalog, but something that still sounds fresh today like 'Hey Jude' (which is RS 7th greatest song of all time) or perhaps Lennon's Imagine (which is 3rd on that list). Maybe both, but probably not, there aren't enough spots, to give a band two billings.

Well, I personally find VLV a bit overplayed...and I got the feeling that Clocks is more popular on this site/in this topic; I see a lot of people who prefer Clocks...
And the question is of course: do we truly want to win with songs which are only popular in England or with songs which are popular among all our members?

And I'm not into The Beatles, so other members should choose a song by them...

Replace Supermassive Black hole with plug-in Baby, New Born or Hysteria, its their worst song off the new album
  4. of best luck guys

Just remember it's about rock, not signature songs by an artist. While some for example see Yellow as 'not as good' as say, Clocks, you also have to remember that there are cliches with huge hits. What better represents rock, a guitar or a piano? Also, another way to show you know rock is by setting it up as a vinyl LP. Make the playlist look like 2 mini albums. Take a look at Beggars Banquet and Achtung Baby. Street Fighting Man kicks off side 2 as does The Fly.

Also, with the other artists, 2 shound be artists that influenced the band, 2 contemporaries of the band, and two indluences of the band.

2 influences: The Beatles, band from the 70s (The Who or Led Zeppelin)
2 contemporaries: The Police and Journey (who doesn't love don't stop believin)
2 influenced: Coldplay and The Killers/any other band blah blah

Stay away from: The Rolling Stones

As much as they rock, U2 had nothing to do with Blues Rock.

    Stay away from: Radiohead

While they are great, you don't want to scare anyone.

All just suggestions, but as I said before, good luck.
  5. U2: Streets, BD, One, WOWY, The Fly, ISHFWILF

The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
    The Who - My Generation
    Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Coldplay - I'm still for Clocks
    Oasis - Live Forever

Put Bad instead of ISHFWILF, and REM's Losing My Religion for The Who and I'm quite satisfied
(3 JT-songs is a bit too much IMHO)

Bad is too long for radio..and imo also too boring. I know many people won't like what I'll say now, but Bad doesn't work for me. Great lyrics, great vocals, but I can't listen to the whole song. I just fall asleep, only I'm Wide Awake keeps me a bit awake lol

I think instead of Muse and Oasis there should be Bittersweet Symphony as I originally intended

Okay, agree on BSS. Put that on Oasis' spot. REM's Losing My Religion on The Who's spot (REM should be there, they're like U2's twin brother!)

And maybe a U2-rarity? People kinda know ISHWILF, WOWY, One and BD. I think we could create more U2-fans with Kite, OOC, UTEOTW...
  9. so

    non-U2:

    Coldplay - Clocks or Yellow

I still think ISHFWILF belongs to Losing My Religion, they have a similiar theme
