1. i wonder who did the production on that new song. if the album is anything close to that were in for an aural masterpiece. the way bono's hum a longs toward the end faded into the distance and away was fantastic. it had to have been eno.
  2. Originally posted by t8thgr8:so bono wears eyeliner now? i dont know what to think of that but his voice sounds pristine, just like the mandela birthday song. and im prtty sure i heard some eno sounds in there as well. the edges bells were a little overwhelming. adam looked old as shit

Yep, noticed it too. Reminded me of Captain Jack Sparrow lol. I hope it was only for the vid, because he looks old already. He doesn't need female stuff to look younger.
  3. I like the Edge's guitar, sound unique yet Christmassy.

It's a good cover but the original song that wasn't great. The guitar is by far the best bit.
Bono's voice is in the same shape as it was for HTDAAB.

Going to listen to the Killers Christmas track "Joseph, Better You Than Me" to see if it's any better. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ShyKjUq8B_w

BTW does this meant their songs for RedWire are done? Is it one song per artist?

And does anyone else think his introduction to RedWire was a bit twee? And is the 'Martian with great music taste' he refers to himself? ie Is he picking the songs?

PS: I also love how Larry is shaking the jingle bell covered baton in the vid. And Adam seems to be the one doing the 'guitar wearing'.
  4. I love the sound of Bono's voice when he goes up... so clear, amazing

and that part between 2:37 and 3:17 just make me want to close my eyes and get lost in the sound... if the new album will be like that, I'll be the happiest person on Earth

  5. Classic Larry expression at that part too. "What the hell are these...jingle bells?! "
  6. really like u2's version of the song gets me into christmas mood. also, it's just so awesome to see 'new material' from them again! really exciting. love it
  7. So, till now we got:

    - A nice Happy Birthday sung for Mandela: Bono sounds good there

    - Beach Clips which sound very promising

    - Snippets from the studio

    - WLCTT with BB King...which didn't really got me..

    - A nice X-mas jingle: great music, great singing by Bono

    4 out of 5 were great...Awesome
  8. Just watched it again, is Edge wearing flannel??? And Larry did not look like he was enjoying the jingle bells lol
  9. That Mojo interview with Edge is a ''director's cut''. The rest of the article I've got below. I think this interview is the closest since late 2006 that we've got some official news, by somebody seemingly reliable.

MOJO: Well, my first question has to be, have you finished yet?
Edge: [Coolly] Not quite. That's why we're here.

So, why finish up in London?
Well, it's good to get out of familiar surroundings when you're looking for a different perspective. Get out of the comfort zone.

If you'd stayed in Dublin, would you have just carried on producing material rather than bringing everything to a conclusion?
Maybe. Also, a good mix room is always important. Our studio in Dublin is more like a glorified rehearsal room really. It doesn't have proper acoustic treatments for mixing and whatever. So we always mix in a studio that's properly set up for that process.

Is the album still going to be called No Line on the Horizon, or is that a red herring?
It's not totally firmed up but it's still the working title.

So, what the hell does it mean?
It's an image. It's an image, Bono tells me [laughs]. It's like when you're moving forward, but you're not exactly sure what you're heading towards -- that moment where the sea and the sky blend into one. It's an image of infinity, I suppose -- a kind of Zen image.

Is that because you weren't that keen on it in retrospect?
I think there are some fantastic ideas there and they will, I'm sure, be finished off and see the light of day. We just felt like we wanted to put off the decision about what kind of record we wanted to make. And then we went in with Brian [Eno] and Danny [Daniel Lanois], literally just as an experiment to see what would happen. And suddenly there was this excess of stuff, ideas...and we just thought, OK, this is clearly where we are at our most potent at this moment, working with Brain and Danny, so let's follow that idea down the road and we'll get back to the material we started with Rick at some point.

  10. This has probably already been discussed here, but I would guess that the delay in the album means that the tour won't start this spring. It's getting kind of late, no? For Vertigo, I saw a show in Dec and the tix went on sale in March.

yeah, highly unlikely if the album comes out in February that they will tour in the Spring. I guess it will start as a summer tour

  12. He's wearing a lumberjack jacket, that's for sure lol...
