  2. you are right. Boredom of all things U2 (apart from Brussels) has cast a critical eye over everything. I can compliment his voice no problem but I just don't think it's that much of an improvement to be winning this praise. Still nice to have some new stuff though.

    Ah well. Next year should be a bit more interesting. At least we got a song for Christmas. When was the last truly active year of U2? 2006?
  4. Yea Window In The Skies. Then there's that god awful "When The Saints are Coming". I hope to never hear that song again.


  5. I'll put up a video if you'd like of The Saints Are Coming. It's right up there with three crap U2 songs I can think of; Angels Too Tied To The Ground, Saturday Night and Speed of Life. Window In The Skies, on the other hand, is a great song. If Saints is what the majority of Rubin material is like, then hopefully we never, ever, ever, ever have to hear it.

    Even though I have a fairly solid dislike of Green Day, I can go with TSAC, mainly because I think Edge really brings the whole thing together with some great guitar playing (and I like the timpani sounds from Larry's kit), I prefer it to Window In The Skies, but I agree that on the whole, I disliked Rubin's production...too Beatlesesque for my liking, as I've said elsewhere before.
  7. WITS gets my vote too. At first hand, I didn't care too much for it, but it has grown on me.

    Anyway, don't forget U2 also released ATTTTG (Angels Too Tied...) with the remasters. That counts for 2008, although it's not a single.

    i highly highly doubt that Saints would indicate what the Rubin stuff sounds like since it is a cover song. I would think that Windows is more indicative of what the Rubin sessions are like....or just listen to the beach clips from 06

    BTW These two make me think of BD (WITS) and Vertigo (TSAC)
  12. WITS is just a studio song. And a very good one as well. Angels too Tied is a nice song imo. Not very good but alsno not bad.
