1. And a bump to this one too

Why are the terrorists in Mumbay? What are their goals? Anybody likes to take a guess?

  2. India is a divided country, both rich and poor, with western and eastern influences and a mix of several religions. A 'perfect' place for terrorists. I don't know their goals though.

Just watched CNN, about some Jewish rabbi and his wife who both got killed. Some guy rescued their son. Anyway, there are still some bunch of terrorists left in the Taj Mahal hotel.

This whole size of events reminds me to The Kingdom. Instead of some car-bomb, terrorists just use machineguns and handgrenades to cause terror and chaos. The same happens in The Kingdom.

Let's hope it all ends soon. When I see the pictures of squares drowning in blood, I feel disgusted. Of all living creatures on earth, we are the real animals. We're the most developed race and still we butcher each other.

I was pretty surprised by the ammount of what they show: every fight between the terrorists and the army is showed, there's hardly any censored stuff
  4. Bump!

"It is extraordinary that you can find 700 billion dollars to save Wall Street and the entire G-8 can't find 25 million to save the lives of 25,000 children who die every day from preventable and treatable diseases. That is mad." - Bono, 2008

Not sure we already discussed this here, but it's a mad thing indeed. I found a nice Dutch cartoon, I'll translate:
    http://www.nozzman.nl/cartoon.php?ID=569
The guy in the TV says: 'Remember Africa? We are the world? Now it's your turn. Support us in this crisis!

The financial crisis has been going on for nearly 5 months now (it kinda started end of July). A dutch company called the CBS thinks we (Holland) are getting into a regression, maybe even a 'getting smaller' of the economy. What do you guys think? Will we truly become less fortunate? Should we cut down on charity work? Or do you agree with Bono and we should first help Africa and be happy with less ourselves?
  5. Maybe a precipitate opinion, but I don't think it's necessary to stop with aid. Of course that's important to take care of your own nation, but the aid money was never a huge sum anyway, I think most of the countries who accepted the aid agreement can keep their words in their own countries and with the poor as well.

    Okay, that's true

Personally I agree with Bono. 700 billion dollar is unbelievably much and I think it's nothing more than a waste of it. People with loads of money take it all off their bank account and the extra money the banks get is gone in no time.

Exactly If a president can find 700 billion dollars, why he can't find 25 million dollars? And he had years and years to give this money to the poor...The crisis, this time, is only an excuse for not giving, IMO.
  8. We will never get an equal wealth for all people. Because one of our basic instincts is to survive. Fuck the rest, save yourself...Sounds ignorant, it is ignorant, but that's how the majority of the human beings are.
  9. Just came across this nugget. Thanks Rod. Thanks for making sure that Chicago politicians still have a bad name right before the Inauguration.

Long story short. The Governor of Illinois was caught trying to auction off Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder. His predecessor also went on trial for corruption.

Thank god its them instead of you.

  11. Yup, that's the way we 'like' to look at it. It is a fucked up world...Bono's words on Wake Up Dead Man are true for sure.

There's a cool name for this, "The Tragedy of the Commons".
