I think U2 went looking for new sounds by tapping into popular muisc of this generation. Here's a thought: U2 described the album as having Mitch Mitchell type drumming. Hip hop uses a drum machine to create beats. Therefore, the album will not be a hip hop record. And yeah is right at every level as well.
