    You don't have to buy them.

    It is options. U2 are offering options of various formats. The book version being the most expensive, they are offering a softcover that is cheaper. The album itself, in single CD format is merely 9.99 on Amazon.

    Offering options is not a bad thing. If they did JUST the big box version, then people would scream $100! I can't afford it! If they did JUST the 9.99 CD people would say "why no cooler deluxe version"?

    Seems like having given us options, is a far more fan friendly thing to do than one option.

    no kidding..geeez, everyone begs for more info and crys because of delays and then the announcements start to trickle in and the bitching ensues. give me a break

    not like this album is coming as a surprise people. I've been saving pennies for the new album/tour since the last one ended. and even as of right now...you have over 3 months before it drops, plenty of time

    i am SO HAPPY they are putting the effort into all the different packages/content...that's why I love them. they do the same with their tours, which is why they're the best.

  6. If the double vinyl release is true, it could mean there are quite a few songs on this new album. I think Atomic Bomb was released on single vinyl.

  11. Hmm....the latest double album I bought (Stadium Arcadium) contained a lot of good songs, but RHCP should have put these great songs on one album instead of two. Now they have a mediocre double album instead of a great single album.

    Same with Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by the Smashing Pumpkins too come to think of it.
