1. For those concerned with the album being 10 songs... be patient and relax... There has been NO official tracklist given yet.

The Q article talks of they ten that they were played. It also mentions they were played two versions of "No Line on the Horizon". This also shows that they tracklist was not solidified yet, as of when Q was with U2.

In mid-November, Q "initially heard seven tracks at various stages of completion," which suggests the song titles might have changed between then and now.

Their overall assessment? "No Line On The Horizon is more in keeping with the spirit of 1991's Achtung Baby: which is to say, a bolder, more testing collection."

Here are the song titles listed in the Q album preview:

"Magnificent" ("classic U2isms" ... "atmospheric sweep")
"Crazy Tonight" (will.i.am worked on this one)
"Stand Up" ("swaggering" ... "coruscated Edge guitar work")
"Get Your Boots On" ("a heaving electro-rocker")
"Winter" ("about a soldier in an unspecified war zone")
    "Unknown Caller" ("stately")
"Moment of Surrender" ("a strident seven-minute epic recorded in a single take")
    "Breathe" (Eno loves this song)
"No Line On The Horizon" (there were two versions being considered at the time)
"Every Breaking Wave" (Bono: "We might be on to something special there.")

Eno told Q he thinks it might be U2's best album, and Edge agreed.

  2. If they let Q listen to ten songs, something says me that there is a pretty good chance of a double album or a second album during the tour.

maybe I'm wrong, but I think I remember reading something about cobl in u2 by u2 - that the song got inspired by a concert in the USA (madison square garden, I think?) during the elevation tour after 9/11. but yeah, maybe I'm mixing things up

I remember that either...Bono telling the audience 'Oh you look so beautiful tonight' during Streets

to the topic: I hope the album has at least 12 songs

It's possible that Bono invented that line during that gig and that they already had some riffs or something from the Pop sessions.

Exactly. I think the keyboard intro already existed during Pop sessions.

  6. He also said that (or at least something almost identical) during Walk On on one of the Elevation DVDs, I think Slane but I'm not certain.
  7. It's more than possible, that is how it came to be. Musical elements for City of Blinding Lights started during the POP sessions.

The "Oh You Look So Beautiful" happened at one of the NY post 9/11 shows.

Slane indeed. 'You look so beautiful. So beautiful. Sprit is in the house!
  9. don't laugh, here it comes, I'll act like a crew member now: we're really off topic guys, so please discuss it somewhere else

  11. Oh and I think we can now conclude it will be one CD, so arround 11 songs imo.
  12. The bonus track might also be on the expensive boxset. Would be strange not to include it.
