A bit of investigation has suggested that my friend has an RP90 or at least something similar if the RP90 is pretty much an RP70 with an expression pedal bunged on, but that said I've never had a chance to fiddle so yeah Nick, get some sounds to us! I may get around to doing some demoish stuff tomorrow myself if I get the chance, i.e. just go through the sounds on my pedal to give you an idea what I'm working with. It's nothing much, but it'll give me something to do
  2. I got something a little more sophisticated in the area of multi-fx. (not to brag) My parents got me a VOX Tonelab LE. I asked for it, and they got it for me. It's actually pretty damn cool. I've only had a few hours with it, but I've already managed to get great sounds out of it. I'll also be posting some clips up in the next few weeks.
  3. Nice! I got a Line6 ToneCore Compressor pedal. Not a VOX pedalboard or an RP70, but can't complain. Nothing like a little squeeze.

Do we know what songs/sounds Edge uses a compressor for? I know WOWY pre-Fernandes (JT, LT, ZOOTV) he used for the sustain, but anybody know anything else?

In the old days (before zoo) a lot of people are certain he used a bit of compression on every single song. At a very low setting of course. It is 100% true that he uses compressor everytime he uses a slide. I'm talking about Real Thing, Kite, things like that.
  5. The Tonelab must be quite amazing considering everything I heard about it. I don't know the RP70, but I heard that the amp sims suck - as on most cheap digital units. Well, even if that turns out to be true, I guess it doesn't matter if you want to use it for its effects. There's a lot of fun stuff contained in there. Place it in the effects loop of your amp for best results.

I've got an XV- amp that I bought a few years ago in a moment of weakness. Sometimes I dig it out and play around with it. It can be quite inspiring but I wouldn't want to gig with it. The amp sims are mostly weak, too shrill and very digital sounding. I already thought about giving the unit to my father in law, but he quit playing guitar a short time ago. Well, considering the price - for 60 Euro I had my fun with it.

I have to admit that I prefer single stomp boxes after all. Stomping them on / off is easier than jumping around between patches in a multi. Tweaking a handful of knobs is faster and easier than editing digital patches, too. But the live setup needs more time and floor space. And the price for single stomp boxes is a lot higher than for a multi. Even if I buy Danelectro and Behringer.

I haven't thought about adding a compressor to my live rig. But of course I use a few different kinds of compression when I'm recording.

hahah i totally remember you talking about knowing that you got it cuz of that whole thing with your mom almost telling you lol

  7. Haha yea man. I forgot I posted that story here. Funny stuff. Anyway guys I posted an audio clip on youtube. The playing is rough, and the mixing is a little rough also, because it was my first time recording this certain way. I recorded the guitar while listening to the backing track in my headphones, then I mixed them later on the computer, which I'm a noob at lol. Anyway, check it out.

  8. Any tips for an accoustic version of Two Hearts Beat As One? I simply can NOT figure ANY chord out of that song...

    Thanks in advance, mates

  9. Yeah, don't bother

Only joking mate, it's not a song I've spent much time looking into so I can't be of much help at the moment.
  10. Just looking at a picture I've got of Edge playing his Explorer at a ZooTV/Zooropa concert, not sure which in particular, it's been used on a couple of bootleg covers I think BUT anyway, that's not actually of any particular note. Basically, it shows him playing an F# bar chord or an F (if it was tuned down half a step obviously), and the only song I know that he played the Explorer on during that period was Ultra Violet, which as far as I am aware doesn't use F# (or, again, F if tuned down half a step). Does anyone know if Edge played the Explorer on more than just Ultra Violet during ZooTV, or have I just got Ultra Violet worked out wrongly and am thus being thick lol? The main song that comes to mind off the top of my head as using F#/F bar chord is Mysterious Ways during the middle 8-ish part, and I had always figured that it was a signature Rick. song...

From all of the video I've seen and the shows I attended during the Zoo tours, The Edge only used the Explorer for "UltraViolet (Light My Way)" during the Zoo tours (1992-1993).

What picture are you refering to?
