1. Anybody know where one might find the songs from this single? Are these tracks different versions from what's on Boy?

  2. Yeah these are other takes. On Boy they are more finished.

  3. You can find them on various music stores but you really have to look, and they are very rough versions of the songs.

Are they not the versions on the Boy remastered bonus disc?
  5. So "Three" must be the Holy Grail of U2 releases, huh?

  6. Indeed it is...excerpt from something I've got:

    U2
    U23 (CBS Ireland,1979)

    01. Out Of Control
    02. Stories For Boys
    03. Boy/Girl

Produced by U2 and Chas De Whalley. Remixed by Robbie McGrath. Recorded at Windmill Lane Studio. Photography - Hugo. Glue-Art On My Sleeve. Men - Burgunday, Jackie Polo, Father Devlin. Boys - Teddy, Eric, The Village. Management - Paul McGuinness - Dublin 687952

The first single from U2 is the start of many a collector's nightmare as they try to find a copy of it. For more information, please refer to the following column of "Collector's Corner <http://www.atu2.com/collectors/columns/0599/>" by Matt McGee of @U2. This single was initially only available as a limited pressing by CBS Ireland. As U2's popularity grew it has been reissued numerous times. Although Out of Control and Stories for Boys both appeared later on Boy, these versions are different recordings of those songs.

  7. They are on the remastered CD, which I don't have yet. In the Various Dates section, there are three pages worth of these early demos, which I think is exactly what you're after.

    I got:

    False Prophet
    Alone In The Light
    The Magic Carpet
    Another Time, Another Place
    Out of Control
    Stories For Boys
    The Fool
    Street Mission
    Shadows and Tall Trees
    Boy / Girl

Go in there and you'll find it. Then grab a cover scan and it looks like the original, just not as high-quality.
  8. There are a few copies for sale in Rhythm Records "The U2 Shop" in Dublin for €400 each.

  9. Legit? With the 1.49 sticker? Oddly cheap

  10. they've a few at that price.. but the orange vinyl versions are alot dearer
