1. I find that picture utterly scary

and I think his worst voice problems were during POPmart times, where he thought he had larynx cancer or something.. ugh.

Eventually it happened to be DUST from the Nevada desert... Such a small thing made a rockstar think he had cancer! Ironic...

True, you would think he would know better, especially seeing as his mother died of a stroke, which means he has an increased chance of suffering one due to genetics, and the smoking is not going to help. And didn't his dad die from lung cancer?

Perhaps we can 'counter preach' to him about his smoking

His father had brain cancer. And his father (Bob) gave hims grief for smoking - Bono saying at the time that he the cheroot cigars were more of a prop than anything else.

I agree that smoking is not a great habit and that it is expensive and there are rants to be had about the manipulation of 'Big Tobacco' and thier history of lies in regards to the effects of smoking and manufaturing cigarettes with more nicotine to get more and more addicted to thier 'product'. In that - tobacco companies are wrong and one might think that anyone - incuding members of U2 wouldnt' want to buy the product- being that buying it does add to financially supporting the tobacco companies.

But keep in mind, Paul McGuiness and Adam did smoke and quit. Good news there. But Bono ISN'T the only remaining member that smokes. Hopefully Bono, Edge and Larry have or will soon quit.

That picture from rolling stone, is more of a humidifier for his voice.

  5. Bono's voice was great during Vertigo tour. I think that he was better and more consistently singing better on Vertigo than the Elevation tour or the PopMart tour and I see that as positive and promising.

But remember, cabaret singers know all about Desert Weed. Bono didn't...

That photo is the kind they need for those anti-smoking ads. His voice was great during Vertigo - Miss Sarajevo from the third leg of the tour (North America), but it wasn't as strong as the 1987-1993 period. It wasn't too great during the second and fourth leg either, but I think everyone knows that - a hard year of touring.

But when U2 came to Adelaide on the fifth leg, his voice was next to amazing. I'd watched a few of the fourth leg DVDs of South America that day, and it was shot. I hadn't watched or listened to any of the Australian shows up to then, but it was amazing. I could not believe it.
  9. Bono is great and all but I got a friend in Africa and we have discuss that subjects a lots of times and he says that a lot of people say that Bono should leave them alone..And thats the truth..Let them be! Africans have always been like this...
I am not a racist...I love Africa...but..if there are soo many borning babys ,there must be so many dying people too...It's cold and heartless... it's called NATURE..
There isn't so much space in the world for all these africans..sorry Bono...make music-you're good at it...
  10. Well after reading all the post's it's hard for me to write this becouse i agree and disagree with what Bono does at a live show.I was at the london show on the zoorpa leg and it was just a weird werid thing too see and hear when the srajevo video clip come on,,it was hard to get back in to it and i dont want too feel like that at a gig and i hope they can get the ballance right coz as we can see a lot off fans are gitting pissed..All i will say is i wacthed star stores the othe day with Bono the son off god ( Christ pt 2 ) and i thought it was funny as hell.
  11. I'm not sick of Bono....he goes out in the world and tries to be himself. As a caring person with a bit of wealth he tries his best to help put everyone as best he can.
  12. I like Bono.

    I also like Udon.
