1. Thought there was an earlier thread on this but it must have dropped into the hinterlands. Anyway which soundboards match 2001-05-03 - Cleveland, Ohio - Gund Arena? That recording is perfection to my ears. Beautiful, crystal clear quality. And which audience recordings come close? Thank you.
  2. MSG New York - 25th October 2001 is the other one that I think is on a par with Cleveland. Also from what I've read in other posts San Jose 20th April 2001 (Last Of The Rock Stars) is another great recording.

BTW,the San Jose show was, according to Bono, after the show,........"......the best performance of his career to date.".

  4. ^^^ Whoops

New York New York so good I posted twice......
  5. October 25 New York is soo almost the perfect soundboard. You can actually hear the crowd as if it were an audience recording but the band is all soundboard. The 'almost perfect' refers to the dreadful lack of bass. Kills it but still definatley worthwhile. 2001-5-16 - Chicago isnt bad either if you don't mind ear piece recordings. Great alternative version of I Still Haven't Found
  6. Slane...

For me the best Soundboards ever are Slane 2001-09-01 (the DVD sound) nad Dublin 1993-08-28.

You're right! I can't understand why the Dublin R.D.S. Arena show sounds so perfect! It's the greatest bootleg ever!
Anyway about the Elevation Tour I have to agree about the New York 2001-10-25 show. We have a so-called MATRIX version (excellent audience recording + excellent soundboard recording) which is just one step behind the Dublin bootleg. They are two must-have!

  8. Dublin is amazing. A few days ago I listened to Love is Blindness from both Dublin and Sydney. The difference is almost not noticeable..

I even would say that I prefer Dublin's sound instead of Sydney's one. Dublin is even more powerful and consistent, and the audience...

I was spoiled... I ripped Boston DVD before I ever heard Cleveland 2001-05-03 or New York 2001-10-25, so I was impressed by NEITHER of the latter two because they have NO BASS WHATSOEVER... NONE. It took me awhile to appreciate how good the performances were on these songs and it didn't happen right away because there's high bass (and audience noise, JUST in the right places, of course) on the DVD-rip, but none on the soundboards.

My suggestion is... do yourself a favor and rip Boston.

It's almost identical setlist to Cleveland but sounds better in my opinion!

Some of the bass problems can be solved simply by modifying the tracks with a decent audio editor. That's not difficult.
Anyway you are right about the difference between the boots and the DVD rips.
