    I will let my own ears be the judge. Not someone that 'supposedly' went to a listening party or not.

    To be honest it wouldn't be a complete shock - disappointing, but not surprising. Thing is, they say in U2 by U2 that HTDAAB was their best album to date at that point...like hell was it? And I've always maintained that no one's gonna say that it's crap because that wouldn't help much. However, on that note, I'm still perfectly open to surprises - I think sitting tight and waiting is the best option, 'cause there's not much else to be done until March 2nd.

    Sounds like a wise move
  6. impressions vary anyway. what might sound the same to someone, sounds totally different to someone else. otherwise we'd all like the same albums.

  8. I know, but it sounded so much more serious this time. they even delayed the album, even larry joined the talk. not that I'd mind another album in the atyclb/htdaab direction (because I really liked those two), but I'd still be somewhat confused
  9. Unless U2 completely watered down the mixes since Q heard it... I can't give the opinion of the person that claimed to have heard it at a listening party that much weight.

    Not gonna spill out too much here, coz I respect the ones who chosen not to listen to the beach clips
    But to my ears, and from what I heard so far
    If like anstratdubh mention, somethin wud have happened to these "supposed to be" songs
    on the new album in the process, then...
    That is pretty much bull
    EDIT: Should say tough, that someone pointed out earlier
    That what someone might think sound like that, might be different to another person

  12. What do you think about this table? It came in my mind while I was in the tub.

    1st U2 era: Rock
    1980 - Boy
    1981 - October
    1983 - War
    Result: Basic success with the first two albums, but War brought the real breakthrough.
    2nd U2 era: Blues and roots rock
    1984 - The Unforgettable Fire
    1987 - The Joshua Tree
    1988 - Rattle And Hum
    Result: complete world success, but Rattle And Hum (movie) fails and the band retire for a while.
    3rd U2 era: Electro
    1991 - Achtung Baby!
    1993 - Zooropa
    1997 - Pop
    Result: another breakthrough, U2 map a new musical direction, but Pop fails and the tour gets 20 million USD downside.
    4th U2 era: Electronic and alternate rock
    2000 - All That You Can't Leave Behind
    2004 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    2009 - No Line On The Horizon
    Result: ???

    So, what do you think?
