1. Fast cars? That one was already recycled for the Boots song, so no worries.

Yep, it's gonna be included in the digipack version for sure and in the other versions most likely, too.

What is wrong with folks these days? This forum has turn into Interference light.

  3. You can actually get the album a day early, if you live in the US...the same day as the UK gets it, anyway.

If you have iTunes, all you have to do is click the British flag (or it may be "UK") at the bottom of your page, and the album will be available for download for you.

I've never personally done this, so I don't know how it interacts with gift cards or credit cards as far as purchasing goes, but you'll surely be able to listen to the samples, at the VERY least.

I probably won't do this, since I know I want a hard copy anyway, but I figured I'd share. I was going to do this with Viva la Vida, but once I heard the 30-second samples on the UK iTunes, I decided it could wait another day instead of spending twice the money.
  4. Hello all. I am a long-time U2 fan (since 1983) but just joined this forum. I am very excited about the new album, but then I always am. One thing I've noticed in the articles about No Line is that U2, Eno and Lanois are basically saying the same thing as they did before the release of ATYCLB and HTDAAB -- its their best album ever, they are doing really exciting stuff musically that they have never done before, etc. The self-promotion is frankly a bit embarassing -- U2 have nothing to prove. If they have a great album in the works, I would be more impressed if they understated its significance by saying to interviewers something like, "it's a U2 album we've been working on for years and we are very proud of it. We hope the public agrees." I mean, this is U2, the biggest band in the world, for God's sake. Let the record executives promote it.

That said, what I have heard from the beach clips and what I've read about the album sounds promising. I'm still waiting for another "classic" U2 album. Their three stand out albums, in my view, are War, The Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby. ATYCLB and HTDAAB were very good, and perhaps one or both should be rank with the three other albums I mentioned, but something was missing from both of those is present on the others. It is a certain resonance in the music and lyrics that sticks with listeners over time. What U2 I think needs for another classic album is something with a compellling theme, particularly one that connects to the social turmoil of the present more powerfully than the previous few albums have done. HTDAAB was focused more on personal issues (which is fine), but U2 needs to make another political album. I want more songs like "Window In The Skies" (which is I wish they had waited to include on this album). And Bono needs to write better lyrics than he did for Bomb (Miracle Drug and War and Peace were just atrocious) and they need to find a way to keep to the classic U2 sound but also take their music in a new direction. The beach clips, particularly "No Line On The Horizon" (the one with the "whoa-whoa-oh" chorus) and "Magnificent" (with the repeat of the line "only love") have a definite "classic" feel to them, and "Get On Your Boots" sounds like they are trying to push the boundaries of their sound -- no horizon in that sense, perhaps. So I'm hopeful about this new album, though I've believed the hype before and been disappointed. Hope, by the way, might be a good theme.

Can't wait to hear the album! Wish U2 would perform it at the Obama inauguration!

  5. By the way, is there a way to skip to the end of the posts on a thread without having to scroll through the whole thing? It took me about fifteen minutes to get to the posts from the last few days!

  6. Beautiful Day was a lightning strike of a song, and as we all know lightning rarely strikes twice.

Beach Clip 1 is Unknown Caller apparently, though I thought it was the original version of No Line On the Horizon as well.

And yes all the hype is worrying, NLOTH will probably not live up to the hype of being their greatest album ever, and gullible fans will be dissapointed (even though they said the exact same thing for the previous two albums).

Though it's practically guaranteed to be their best album of the 2000s.
Though I wonder if any of the songs will reach the high point that Beautiful Day did back in 2000.
  9. How come people think mercy will be on the album??? Cant the band just make a new song without any relation to a demo that got leaked 4+ years ago???? Theres so much emphasis on it, i think when the album comes out it should be completely new to us.

you can only do this if you are using a gift card (i assume) OR if your iTunes account is linked to a credit card with a UK address
