1. I just got the issue of Q yesterday, and I've been away for two weeks, so if this has already been discussed, I'm sorry. I've been working my way through the interview, which has been amazing. It's a great read. But I noticed a little box on the Edge's interview that says he punched Bono in the face on stage one time. Does anyone know anything about that? This is from the interview, on page 54 of the magazine.

I don't know about that one. I know he was pretty pissed at him during that Live Aid performance in '85.

So we can't discuss the beach clips which is actual material from the album sessions, but questions like this (and a repost at that) are topical?

    Careful mate.

You may not agree, but respect the wishes of the crew please.

He speaks about at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1982, was it? It's in U2byU2 but I can't remember the specifics right now.

Yeah - this happened on one of the early tours, either Boy or October, but not really sure exactly when. Apparently Larry fucked up the drum intro to 11 o'clock tick tock, and Bono was none-too-pleased about it, so he decided to try and attack Larry over the drum riser. Edge, seeing this, threw his guitar down and promptly punched Bono in the face to stop him, or at least that's how the story goes anyway. No doubt it's gotten more elaborate and larger-than-life as the years have gone by!!

    Cheers,
    Sean.

Yeah you're spot on. It was a Boston gig in 1981.

There was a total mess on stage - I think Edge tried to knock me out.

And the song was 11 O'Clock.

The guy asked a question. Chill out.

  9. So this will take it up to a possible 13 tracks? Bono mentioned the album is long, with the length of some songs (Moment of Surrender in particular). This could be one of U2's longest albums I reckon - bar Rattle and Hum.

Well we have waited the longest amount of time between albums.

Rattle and Hum was over 75 minutes, wasn't it? An album that has 13 tracks and 75% of them are good, is a revelation nowadays. Even getting 11 tracks on an album is hard to come by now.
  12. We've waited the longest time between albums, yeah. I'd say the other length would have been Zooropa > Pop.
