  1. Hello all!!!!!!!!

    Just suddenly thought of some u2 related stuff and I had to turn my computer on and get on to u2start.....

    1) Firstly I am interested in what everyone thought about the vertigo tour. To me it was perhaps the weakest tour so far despite all the great lighting etc. The audience seems to be getting less energetic. Perhaps it might be because most u2 fans are quite old (sorry to say that, but you know what I mean, they are an old band and there are people who have been fans of theirs since the beginning. I know the majority of people who post on here are quite young). Also it might have something to do with the band being less energetic on stage themselves i.e. old. Footage from previous tours seem packed with energy including the elevation tour, which wasn't that long ago. Having said that, it may have had something to do with the songs on HTDAAB. Would you say they are less energetic and jump up and down material?

    2) I created a post once about adam clayton; does he sing or not? despite him sometimes having a mic in front of him. Someone said that he did sing but the mic wasn't switched on or plugged in. That got me thinking.... there are some live songs where Bono plays or appears to play the guitar. On some songs you can hear his strumming if you listen closely, but are there times when Bono's guitar isn't plugged into the amp?

    P.S Could you also tell me general sites where you can download free bootlegs. I know of the 101guitar one.

  3. 2) Sunday Bloody Sunday on "Under a Blood Red Sky" album, during the final "encore" chorus of Sunday Bloody Sunday (second drum roll, etc.), the first line of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is definitely NOT sung by Bono. Someone else sings it with sort of a funny voice which I believe is Adam...

    Yeah! I've noticed that! Also listen to "Endless Deep" from the Two Hearts Beat As One single.
  5. i LOVE THE VERTIGO TOUR!!! it was the first tour i followed cuz im only 14 and wasnt old enough for any other tour (became a fan in 2005 -_-) i loved the first 3 songs and the Love and Peace/Sunday/Bullet/Miss Sarajevo section and the ZOO TV encores I dont know why people are always hating on Vertigo its probably their best because of the variety of songs that have made it back on their setlist.

    bout the fans...
    i dont know about how old the people at the shows are (cuz ive never been 2 a U2 show -_-) but they can still bring young people in as long as they have Vertigo and Beautiful Day the Milan show and the South American shows have extraordinary crowds so idk bout that remark.



    final verdict...

    VERTIGO is one of their best tours!!!!!!

  7. It's not their weakest tour in my opinion. But I agree that the crowd is getting less energetic. The Elevation Tour was better.
  8. I'll stick to your first point only.

    The energy of the audience has nothing to do woth age, I'm not even convinced that a U2 audience is older than on other bands. During the concerts I've been to the crowd was pretty mixed.
    I think it rather has to do with the album they promote, the selection of songs and the performance on stage.
    The problem with the Vertigo Tour was that they promoted one of their weakest albums. And of this album quite a few songs just don't work well live. No matter what you think of album versions or lyrics, songs like SYCMIOYO, Miracle Drug, All because of you, Original of the Species or Yahweh just don't work live.
    The old classics like Pride, With or Without You, Sunday Bloody Sunday or Streets were played pretty uninspired.
    Even the old songs, which were the major surprise of the tour didn't really work out well. Especially on the first gigs a lot of people didn't seem to even know tracks like An Cat Dubh or Into the Heart...
    And the fact that one felt being at a political campaign rather than a rock concert didn't make it better.

  9. 1) Vertigo was great. It was more rock'n roll than Elevation (altough Elevation is my number 1 with Zoo TV). Especially Leg 3 to the end was great.

    My top 5:
    1) Elevation/ZOO TV
    2) Lovetown
    3) Vertigo
    4) Joshua Tree
    5) PopMart
