1. Speaking of using U2 lyrics in class -- when I was in 5th or 6th grade my substitute teacher had us all translate Where the Streets Have No Name into Swedish. He said he was a huge U2 fan, and I could really tell that the music meant a lot to him as he played us the song.

Most of the kids (including myself) knew very little about the band. I think I knew that they had the song Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and possibly that they were from Ireland.

When I became a U2 fan in 1993 I remember thinking that I wished I could tell him that "Now I'm a U2 fan, too!"

    Teachers can certainly leave impressions!

I've "converted" a couple of my students to becoming U2 fans!
  3. I don't doubt that! But how? Did you play U2 music during class, or just generally chat about them, or what? *curious*
  4. General chat. And I have kids who eat lunch in my room and I often watch a concert video at lunch. Some kids who sort of liked them already are now more into it and will report news of the band as they hear it. Of course, I usually already know the news but it's nice of them.

There's also a couple kids that I've gotten into the (RED) campaign.

    UPDATE!

I just googled his first name, which was all I ever knew, and the word "lärare" (teacher) and... I found a blog of his with a picture and his full name so I could see if he is on Facebook, which he is. I sent him a message and he replied, so now he knows.

He as really happy to hear that I remember this assignment (and him), but he isn't really a U2 fan anymore. Anyways, this is just amazing!! GOOOOOGLE + FACEBOOOOK
