True, but how many people actually KNOW that...?
I bet most of the people there won't and think it's great to sing it...

+ "One, but not the same"...
I think, eventhough it's about breaking up, would fit perfectly !

    Think about it :
    - America has a lot of different religions, 'colours', nationalities and Obama wants to combine them to one America so that slogan is quite obviously perfect

    - IF it's Bono (and maybe the rest of the band) AND Mary J Blige
then that's... Black and White => Again a link for saying that the 'blacks', like Obama is himself, and the 'whites' can make it a better America

So to be honoust, i think this would be perfect
  2. I wonder what taxidriver Larry will think of this....playing One with misses Blige in Washington for Obama.
  3. Was Automatic Baby at Clinton's first inauguration? I can't seem to remember.

  4. I just read that part in U2 By U2 and I can tell you that you're right

About One being a break-up song: True, but there are still people who think WOWY is a love song, while 'I can't live with or without you' doesn't sound like love to me. No-one cares about the real meaning of those songs unfortunately.
  5. Will it be shown in any TV channel?

  6. from U2.com:

    'We Are One'
U2 join a stellar line up of artists at The Lincoln Memorial in Washington this Sunday for 'We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration'. Don't miss it. It's open to the public and aired on HBO.

Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, John Legend, Usher, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder are among the acts performing while Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington are among those reading historical passages.

'We Are One:The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial' is the opening celebration for the 56th Presidential Inaugural, presented by HBO this Sunday, January 18 (7:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT).

Songs are subjective though...but we're in the wrong topic for that discussion.

  8. Probably not live, since it's a pay-channel here in the US. Give it a couple hours and it'll be on youtube though, or possibly a recap on HBO's website?

Allright, thanks..I can wait a few days.

  10. Really? Wow. That's patience. I'm pissed that it's only going to be on HBO and will scour youtube an hour after it's been aired. (or interference )
