Sorry to keep posting speculation here, but I was excited about this. I emailed Carter Alan, the Boston DJ who's had a long hsitory with the band, a few weeks ago asking him about the single, and telling him I enjoyed his book "The Road to Pop," and I got this reply back today:

Nicole – Thank you so much for your note. I’m happy you enjoyed the book – I actually re-read it recently and it brings everything back for me – totally like a diary.

I heard the new U2 single yesterday – “Get On Your Boots” and I was only able to check it out once. It is rhythmic – not a real rock song at all with similarities (for me) to the ZOOROPA material. I thought it would sound much more comfortable on a station like Kiss 108 or MIX, but U2 music has a habit of only truly revealing itself to you after many listens, so I hesitate to categorize it too quickly!

The record label was still cryptic on the exact release date. The whole schedule was thrown out of whack when U2 postponed their original fall release at the last moment. The single should be out within two weeks though, with the album on March 2nd worldwide (and I’m pretty sure Tuesday March 3rd in the US – which would be midnight Monday night). It’s about to get busy!!!

KISS108 and MIX 98.5 are more mainstream radio stations that play mostly Billboard Hot 100 songs, excluding rap. Add that to the Zooropa similarities he hears, and this sounds like an interesting song.

Anyways, sorry to post yet more speculation, I was just excited i got a reply.
