1. Besides Miss Sarajevo, it was a notable single.

    No Your Blue Room though.

Sorry, I sometimes love to be picky.

    Really, I never noticed.

  2. Both were also released under the U2 label, though. Anyway, let's just stop here.

See, I was afraid you didn't, so I told you.
  3. @yeah, you're german? I though you were American or English and older as well, you certainly come across that way through your posts.

Believe me. I sometimes feel a lot older than I am.

Btw. what exactly shall we discuss here?

  5. Are we all good to go?

I don't think it's a matter of being picky. Your Blue Room is still a relatively-unknown song, yet appears on the Best Of. And North and South of the River is another one. Performed live just once and on the Best Of, again.

So they are fine to talk about. Alright...go for it!

    - studio tracks from the core albums only
    - demos such as Mercy, Wave of Sorrow, Angels Too Tied To The Ground
    - single edits such as Please and Walk On and City of Blinding Lights
    - standalone and notable B-sides are cool (Sweetest Thing, Electrical Storm, Window In The Skies, Always, Big Girls Are Best, Miss Sarajevo, Your Blue Room..)
    - no live stuff, because it's obviously not a new song
    - no semi or full instrumental tracks
    - no remixes, fake fruits or bootlegs unless they're notable ones (Salome)
    - songs from the unreleased and rare collection (Levitate, Stateless, Love You Like Mad) are fine as well
  6. Call me slow. But I still didn't get it. I post a song I like and wait for someone who either says "Yep, that's a great tune" or someone who says "No it sucks." Or what?
  7. I might aswell show my love with a passion for 3 tracks: Walk On, Running to Stand Still and One.

To me Walk On is one of the most epic things they've done, most certainly on a personal level. It just builds up and draws you into the fantastic final verse, My favourite U2 song

Running to Stand Still is just a good story told, slowly, with a great build of power and passion, my favourite song on the Joshua Tree

and One, Maybe people think its overrated, but the sturture is perfect and the lyrics can be applied to so many things, the East/West Germany one being a good interpretations (but the band said, a "Song about a breakup")

Regarding the Blue Room, I listen to the Passengers album yesterday and thats Probably one of the bests songs on the album, don't take alot though

Wait if you say demo's people will think the Salome Tapes are game. U&R tracks are ok except for the remixes.

Someone thinks Walk On is epic (scratches head), was always more of a generic U2 sounding song to me, though I love the ending.

  9. Miss Sarajevo is a song I found to be one of the greatest of the entire 1990s. You have a beautiful melody, top-notch singing by Bono and a spine-tingling operatic solo by Pavarotti. Seeing the video clip just made me stop. I don't know whether I felt sad, angry, shocked or what seeing that.

Your Blue Room is another beauty. A simple melody (much more so than Miss Sarajevo) with again deep notes by Bono, plus a fantastic falsetto, and Adam speaking on the track about random things. That one I can put on and just listen intently.

Call me slow. But I still didn't get it. I post a song I like and wait for someone who either says "Yep, that's a great tune" or someone who says "No it sucks." Or what?

You wait for someone to discuss it, then we go into more songs afterwards and eventually have a huge thread full of opinions.

Lyndon - if someone thinks a song is epic, don't go off on it. Just read and discuss - passionately!

I just think thats it probably one of the better releases of the 21st century and can't really compare it with anything else they have released, especially with the events during the Elevation Tour, the song meant so much more, especially live.

We aren't including live versions, discussion must reference album versions only, in isolation, so a half decent song that is fantastic live, is a half-decent song not a great one, for the purposes of this thread.

With regards to Walk On, while the intentions and circumstances(ie. a song about freedom, Aung San Suu Kii, and 9/11) of the song are notable, the song itself in isolation from these other connotations is not.
