How did it not make you hold your hands in front of your face and peek out between the gaps in your fingers?
  2. hahah what do you mean Gerard? lol

Fair kop, I didn't really pay that much attention to the vids as I am kinda tired, but after having read all the stuff regarding the first airplay of GOYB I felt obliged to pop in here, but it was first impressions. Maybe tomorrow when I'm a bit more awake I'll give 'em a bit more time, but it gave me some optimism - the fact that there's grounds to consider them moving COBL up to A has got my musical-ness doing an overload in that they may be considering a segue into Streets, but who knows. A lot of assumptions without much ground to base anything on but shit, no one's perfect. There's a strong element of pre-recording but I just always figure that you can't pretend to hit a drumkit lol, so there IS a live performing element too, just not a big one lol.

I know they used MLK during the Superbowl, but I still think that it's a better tribute to MLK than Pride. I can't empathise necessarily with what you say about nearly being moved to tears 'cause, clearly, I'm not American and don't have that connection with the event and its context, but yeah that's fair enough

  4. You said it almost moved you to tears. It almost moved me onto another tv channel. I was embarassed watching it.

  5. I think. Because the lyrics in Pride were changed from 'early morning' to 'early evening', obviously for historical accuracies.

  6. lol well your not from my country lol im so excited about having him as president...I really hope things change...of course im skeptical being a moderate and all...but im pretty excited. So ya it was pretty momentous for me.

I think Gerard's more referring to Bono, rather than the fact it's all for Obama lol, i.e. the stuff about "thankyou for using this in your campaign etc."

  9. ok i see now Gerard. Ya sometimes it can be annoying but just seeing the smile on Barack's face...I had tears in my eyes.
  10. imo the segue was very well done. the second I heard it, I went O_O because it surprised me so much and it sounded good.

  11. I thought I'd hit the nail on the head

In fairness, he wasn't really going to do anything else was he lol? Hundreds of cameras on him beaming live feed around the world, big rockstar thanking him for piking his material during one of the biggest presidential campaigns ever mounted - he wasn't gonna stick his middle finger up and yell "jog on you daft sentimental bugger", although what a headline THAT would have made for the redtops lol...
