Dont like the sound of that either...

Dave probably said that because the other 10 tracks might be completely different.

I also wonder why they put this one out as single. My brother, not a massive U2-fan though, doesn't like it at all. I think the public doesn't like it that much either. Not that I care, I'm confident about the album.

Agree. It misses certain factors which BD and Vertigo did have. There is no obvious chorus, not really a sing-a-long song. It does have a great riff...but I don't think that's enough. Not great advertise for NLOTH I think...

It's all opinion for sure, and I respect that, I just don't agree with the thing about it being the worst single of them all - I think it's a MUCH better song than Vertigo, it has a very different feel to recent work.

Shit, don't forget that this only came out yesterday lol, maybe everyone should give it a bit of time.

Exactly..the single doesn't have to be the best track of the album, but it should be good enough to promote the album. This one doesn't really deliver so far.

  5. Since we haven't got the album to hand yet, how do you know lol? For all we know, it COULD be the best song (arguably a bad thing), whereas alternatively it could be the most poppy/rocky song on it. It could be a good representation of the album, it could not be, we don't know. Again, it's only been on the airwaves for 2 bloody days lol, give it a chance

    Notice the 'I think'

Well, they're hyping the album (as always) so I guess some of us are a bit dissapointed with this single. I don't hate it, but I can't say I love it too. If I had to pick 50 U2-songs, GOYB won't be in it.

Apart from the MUCH better than Vertigo part, I fully agree.

Fair comment - I mean, I've never been one to hold stock by hype surrounding an album etc. on the basis that people aren't going to say anything to the contrary, and so I've tried to just approach the song for what it is, rather than what people say it is, which is perhaps why I don't feel the disappointment others do. This isn't to say that I haven't paid attention to the hype, but more kept it at arm's length rather than anything else. I agree that, for the moment, it doesn't strike me as a classic U2 song to rank up with the likes of Streets, Bad, One etc. but on the same note, we're yet to hear the album so there's no context to put the song into place. I think it's a funky, catchy, musically intriguing song, and I'm excited to hear more BUT if the entire album is a collection of GOYBs, I might be a bit sceptical about considering it to be the best thing the band has ever put out.

Perhaps a slightly excessive comment there for my part lol, I do like Vertigo but I think GOYB is a more interesting and diverse song

  10. I already am, because they said the same stuff about the previous two.
