Saw them at MSG in NYC a month or so ago Remy. It was the first time I had ever seen them and I thought the show was great, although my buddy, who likes Oasis like I like U2, was disappointed. He wanted them to move around a lot more and play some deeper cuts.

The new album is pretty good, but nothing like Don't Believe the Truth. I think I can put up a pretty good arguement that DBTT was better then What's The Story.

Thanks! Did they play a lot of new material, or just classics and a few new songs?
Luckily I'm not a big fan of them, so I let it surprise me, and see whether I like it or not. I don't have very much expectations, can only be a good thing.
  2. They played 4 or 5 tunes from the new album. Shock of the Lightning was cool live, as was the tune that Liam sings that sounds like a Lennon tune.

I think 3 off of Don't Believe the Truth. Layla rocked, but I was so pissed they didn't play Turn up the Sun or Mucky Fingers.

A ton off the first album, which I am personally not a fan of at all despite Oasis being one of my top 5 bands of all time.

But make no mistake about it, the tunes from What's the Story are the ones that got the crowd psyched up the most. The big 3, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back (acoustic), and Champagne Supernova were all unreal live. The crowd got so into those.

If you are not going in with high expectations, I bet you will be surprsied at how good they are live.

Thanks a lot, appreciate your comments! I will burn some of these songs to a CD to listen in the car tomororw. I will let you all know how it was.
  4. How were Liam and Noel yesterday, Remy?

  5. It was great! It was a great show, though Liam's voice still wasn't very good at some occasions (for which he apologized during the show). Noel's songs were much better, I like them more anyway. But overall it was a great show, I really enjoyed it. They have a lot of great tunes, a good live band. Not the best concert I've ever seen, but it was worth the wait, standing in the rain for half an hour and worth the money too.

They played 5 or 6 tunes I didn't know, and half of them I liked regardless. Of course songs like champagne supernova, what's the story, wonderwall and don't look back in anger (performed accoustic as the start of the encore) were the real smashers. They ended with I Am The Walrus which was pretty awesome, great music.

I saw a classmate of mine standing next to me, he was supposed to see them in Germany but he traded his cancelled/rescheduled tickets for tickets in Amsterdam. And in front of us there was a couple from Belfast, they were real die-hard fans, dancing and singing a long like crazy ones whole the time (singing at each other etc.). Couldn't help smiling all the time, it must be great to be such great fans. I asked them if they liked U2, and the girl instantly started singing Streets, they liked them, but not as much as Oasis, which they have seen for over 7 times now. Great party.

And a couple of guys were bored so they throwed at least 15 to 20 glasses of beer in the sky, guys around me were wet like they came from a long swim.

Oh and afterwards I ran into a (lovely) girl who had a song called Noel of 2, named after.. You know

And the support act was horrifying, man I hate (9 out of 10) support acts They were called Twisted Wheel, what a noise.

I know what you mean! A few years ago when I saw The Strokes the support was The Eagles of Death Metal. I was not enthused.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals opened up for Oasis when I saw them at Madison Square Garden back before Christmas. They were good, not great--seemed like mostly instrumental music.

I must have been seated in a bad place, the sound quality was atrocious. Id've rather listened to my iPod. I couldn't hear a single guitar solo, the keyboards were always too loud. Overall not as great as I had expected, but I will say Liam's voice was superb. Like Morning Glory-era good . Highlights from the show were Morning Glory, Supersonic, Falling Down and I Am The Walrus. Slide Away wasn't bad either, but those four were transcendent.

The guy in front of me at MSG saw them on the Tour of Brotherly Love in 2001, said they were unbelievable then and was disappointed on 17th Dec.

I agree that they seem to be sticking to a greatest hits setlist. Back in '01 and '02 they would play She's Electric, D'Ya Know What I Mean, Columbia, Fade Away...I am glad they've started playing Slide Away again. Great tune.

And DBTT is my favorite Oasis album. I love everything about it.
  10. Speaking of the new Oasis tour, here is the new acoustic version of Don't Look Back in Anger. Absolutely beautiful in my opinion...almost makes the song have some sort of meaning. Almost *

*Apparently, Noel wrote the song under heavy "influence" and still doesn't know what its about. Haha...I love this guy
  11. I'm looking to get into oasis, just heard dig out your soul for the first time today, and it fuckin rules.
