1. I'm not too keen on those versions to be honest, I mean I love IWF but I always prefer other versions (save for the alternative acoustic arrangement used on some ZooTV shows). Re. PopMart, twas criminal to not include The Fly during PopMart, but hey can't have everything

You mean he's telling you about them possibly bringing back Mofo because he knows you'd be excited by the news or that the band are bringing it back because he said you like it lol?
  2. I DOUBT that!!! I was thinking today about the new tour, and I do think that some pop songs will re-emerge, but not Mofo. It's almost TOO Popmart-ish. It's not one of those that can be transferred to another atmosphere. The only songs I can see coming off Pop to the new tour are: Discotheque, Gone, Last Night on Earth(if bono can handle the chorus) and Please. I'd love to see them do If God Will Send His Angles. I've always liked that one off of Pop.

lol...when you watch the PopMart dvd it seems as if none of the songs can be played in a different atmosphere.
I have high hopes for Mofo next tour...it's been 11/12 years...
  4. Mofo would be awesome, but if they play Gone and Last Night On Earth or Discothèque, that would be cool enough. Gone is a must-play imo. They can't skip it this time, just as The Fly. Or I'll walk away!

Add Streets, Ultraviolet and Walk On to that and I'm happy. Oh and Boots of course.

  7. This would be such an awesome show
An encore with COBL, Vertigo and OOTS and you have one of the best gigs ever
  8. COBL is a must-play too. But only if they feauture that sort of echo sound in the chorus like on the Chicago DVD

  10. hahahaha no just them discussing songs to play on the new tour don't get me wrong i would love to hear Mofo again. They sound checked Mofo a few times on the vertigo tour hope to see it live again this tour.
  11. Ok... hope you're ready for quite a big post....

First of all lets look at the number of new songs. In Zoo TV, between 8 and 10 Achtung tracks were played, Popmart had 7 to 9 as did Elevation. Vertigo started with 8 or 9 but by the time they got to Australia that had shrunk down to 5. This indicated either a less succesful album OR they were playing to crowds who hadn't seen them in 9 years and where focusing on ATYCLB material and U218 songs.

Second of all as they did flashbacks to Boy and Achtung Baby for the Vertigo Tour I feel like a lot of others in this thread that Pop is about to make its true comeback. ATYCLB will shrink and a lot of the Vertigo stuff will go (COBL, LAPOE). So the setlist....

    Main Setlist
    1) Crazy Tonight
    2) Get On Your Boots
    3) Vertigo
    4) No Line on the Horizon
    5) Stand Up Comedy
    6) Wake Up Dead Man
    7) Stuck in a Moment
    8) In a Little While
    9) Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
    10) Breathe
    11) White as Snow
    12) Sunday Bloody Sunday
    13) Bullet The Blue Sky
    14) Please
    15) Where the Streets Have No Name
    16) Pride
    17) One

    Encore 1
    18) Mofo
    19) Last Night on Earth
    20) With Or Without You

    Encore 2
    21) Unknown Caller
    22) Window in the Skies
    23) Moment of Surrender

    War Songs - 1
    TUF Songs - 1
    JT Songs - 3
    AB Songs - 2
    Pop Songs - 4
    ATYCLB Songs - 2
    HTDAAB Songs - 1
    U218 - 1
    New Material - 8

Of course this all hinges on the album not being a major concept album - if thats the case some of the new songs will need to be played together and possibly even in order!

On reflection have probably given too much to Pop and not to sure about the 2nd Encore but nevermind! I would of course like other songs to go and others to come in but I think this is a likely setlist! Let the pointing out of errors begin!

Well I understand why you don't like it, it's very different...and it is of course kind of weird that it didn't have the "Your eyes" part. But it's just so damn fast and has such a cool guitar effect. And it fitted perfectly after Mofo and the whole PopMart sound.

And The Fly should have indeed been played at PopMart. Imagine segueing from Discothèque, with the same effect. Now that's something I would like to see next tour (back on topic it is)

About Pop songs being played next tour, for me it's the more the better (except IGWSHA and Playboy Mansion) but I doubt they will neglect AB or JT for it. They may have space for it instead of some ATYCLB songs and the Boy revival last tour, but it's more likely that if they'll play Pop again, they'll rotate some 5 songs from it reserved for 2-3 setlist spots, just like Boy on Vertigo.
