Hi from Florida. I am a longtime U2 fan, have been since 1983. Just joined this site a few days ago and absolutely love it! Would love to correspond with fellow U2 fans around the world. So if you are interested, let me know.
I've seen U2 about 8 times I believe. The first came in 1983 in Orlando at a jai alai fronton with about 400 people in attendance. War had just come out, and The Alarm was the opening act. Price of the ticket? $8.50. Pretty incredible, I know. I was hooked from then on and as I creep closer and closer to 50, the music means even more to me these days. Great memories of a group that can fill stadiums whenever they tour.
I actually met Edge, Adam and Larry Mullen Jr. just a few days before the Achtung Baby tour opened in Lakeland, Florida. Kind of hanging around listening to their rehearsals and one night, as they were leaving, the car stopped and the group came out to meet the few of us that were out there. I got their autographs, all but Bono, who left earlier in the day because of throat problems. I did see Bono before the opening concert, firing up the crowd in the back of the Lakeland Civic Center. Great show. All the shows I have seen them have been incredible.
Looking forward to the new album, and hopefully, will see them again.
I salute all of my fellow U2 fans, young and old. It amazes me how U2's music remains so alive all these years and attracts all ages. That is truly the mark of an incredible band. Rock on, guys!
