1. I cant name my source but i can assure you U2 will be recording and releasing audio downloads of the tour, similar to what bands like DMB and Pearl Jam have been doing for years, official bootlegs, from U2.com

and the tour is actually starting in May, not June like Bono thought

i'm not bullshitting, promise...just passing along what i've been told from someone "in the know"

Personally, I'm thinking of bringing a video camera and shooting some footage. I'd love to contribute my shots/angles to a multi-cam source....but am not sure which shows I'll be going to or how to coordinate that with anyone else.

    What about you?

I did record some stuff from the Adelaide show; the audio from City of Blinding Lights to Stuck In A Moment (and did upload it just a few hours after the show). Unfortunately it was worse than a terrible audience recording. But it was audible - then a better recording was released on here and on other sites, so I felt much better that someone else did a better job. I think it was the same guy who did the November 18 Melbourne show.

I'll be doing the same (with better equipment) on the next shows I go to. If I end up going to two shows, then one would be for practice and the second would be the real thing - I haven't really taped a big show before, only little intimate ones.

I'll hold you to this come May (if it is indeed true). The first part I'm pretty sure about (Brooklyn), but the second part remains to be seen. So will it be only for promo shows or shows right throughout the tour? That's something I'd like you to tell us.

Why can you not name your source? Sounds like what The Sun do with their ''sources''.

Can you also ask your source:

    - what will the next single be
    - when will U2 play in Australia
    - who the support acts might be
    - what the stage might look like (a hint)
    - what the opening song could be
    - whether they'll bring out any old gems to the shows
    - where they'll tour first and last

    Thanks!

i'm actually hoping Bono is right, as i can't attend any shows in May, but that's what i was told

from what i understand, and like i said, it's going to be a similar deal to DMB and/or Pearl Jam, where every show (for the most part) is released within days/weeks of the show itself, likely only as downloads, no physical product, but i'm just guessing on that part

i can't ask any questions, and even if i did they woudn't know the answers to any of those i don't think. it's a website related thing, which is why they know when the tour starts, and that shows will be recorded/released

Thankyou very much for answering those questions.

About downloads - if that's the way they go, it'd be interesting to see if they go lossless (Apple Lossless is most likely) or just high-quality MP3 format (256 - 320Kbps, or M4A format). The tour might start in late May (one show in the last three or four days) and continue into June, to the continual tour.

  6. actually not sure about DMB, but PJ is around $9.99 per show give or take, it ain't much

  7. And how many songs would a PJ bootleg have, and are they lossless (FLAC, WAV etc)?

I really hope it will be early July...July 6th is my birthday, would be a nice present

July 18th I'll go on vacation...to Switzerland. If there's no other chance I'll try to attend a Zurich show (good chance they'll play Letzigrund Stadium), or probably Basel. I would never accept to miss U2 live...again.

And I won't record either, for the same reasons
  9. Official bootlegs..so it will be illegal to share them here?

  10. Common bootlegs will still be legal. We won't be able to share that bootlegs provided by U2.Com, that's all.
  11. By the way, I'm planning to record (video if possible, I don't have any good audio-recorder nor a decent microphone) the shows that I attend, since I already attended my first and very best show back in 2005, and recording this year's shows wouldn't spoil any fun for me I have a decent videocamera but I don't know if the sound will be ok, that crappy microphons use to distort such high sounds as amplifiers and so... I expect some good audience recordings to surface from the shows I attend in order to make a good mix with my video

Anybody could give me some advices for a good audio-recording equipment, and cheap if possible? Thanks

  12. PJ shows are sometimes 3+ hours, 25-35 songs, very long shows that are different every night. last tour they offered mp3 and lossless for a bit more $.

i'm hoping this may encourage U2 to tweak the set a bit more each night, as i think it might be a little boring to release hundreds of live cds that barely differ in set lost, but who knows
