1. Good afternoon. We're very pleased to announce that Coldplay are coming together with The Killers in aid of War Child for an exclusive concert at London's newly renamed O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, in front of just 2,000 music fans, on Wednesday February 18th.

The event will follow that evening's Brit Awards. Each band will be bringing the highlights of their full set to the smaller stage in special 45 minute performances.

The night celebrates War Child’s 15th Anniversary and the release of their new album ‘Heroes’ (out on February 16th). War Child are supported for the evening by O2 to mark the launch of the O2 Academy venues.

Tickets to the event are £50 and will be available through a lottery system. The opportunity to enter the lottery will begin at 9am, Friday January 30th through www.warchildheroes.com. Coldplay.com also has a batch of 200 tickets which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Check back to this website at 12noon tomorrow (Thursday) for details of how to buy some.

All profits from the show will go to aid War Child's work to protect the most marginalised children in war zones, who would otherwise be overlooked: street children, child soldiers and children in prison.

Might be the occasion for a Bono surprise appearance,too...
  2. am currently seeing chris martin/coldplay on the grammys... and I loved it until jay-z got on the stage - WHY?! gah

anyway, on to viva la vida *watches*

edit: if chris was jumping just a little less, he might actually manage to breathe while he's singing, but apart from that, sound is much better than when u2 was on.
  3. Yeah, Jay Z ruined it for me

    But Viva rocked!
  4. Did anyone see Coldplay on 60 Minutes before the Grammys? It was good, not groundbreaking, but enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed when the interviewers asked them how they became one of the biggest bands in the world and Chris said in jest, that it was because U2 were on vacation, and they only had until March to enjoy their status.

    Hahahahahahahaha

I'm starting to like Coldplay more and more, but I don't think they're as good as the real rockers like U2 or all the other great bands I like... They're good though

I quite agree. I love U2 and Radiohead. I enjoy Coldplay. Good performance last night!
  7. Lol Coldplay are still mini-U2 but Chris is fun stuff.

Yeah I like their deference to U2. They did the same thing at the Q awards, when they won 'Best Band In the World today", they said U2 was on holiday.

Much better attitude than the Killers for eg. who think U2 are outdated.
  9. I can't believe they won Rock album... It's like you say Simon and Garfunkel are rock or Killers are metal...

Rock is a encompasses a very wide blanket of music, while VLV really straddles the boundary between pop & rock. I think because they are classified as a rock band, they won the award in that category.

Though I agree with the Grammy's VLV should have won best song, great beat, and an impressive theme and lyrics by Chris Martin, which are very well sung.
