1. hye there
about two weeks ago, out of the blue I decided to try and make some sort of mix using my U2 vinyls, its only official releases that have been used - (vinyl - dateq xtc mixer - apple g4 - recorded with peak - converted into mp3 with itunes --- final mp3 is in 320 kbps) actually vinyl sounds too nice to be converted into mp3 but hey .. by now, I'a almost learned to compromise ..... it's not a dirty word ... uhum ....

And I thought I'd share it, as I like it a lot ... (dont mind the small mixups, its vinyl, a live band .. and myself ....)
    free for the free
    enjoy the mix
    hoi hoi Paul

full mix (1hr49) : U2 megamix - two parts beat as one
part one (59 minutes) : U2 megamix - two parts beat as one PT 1
part two (50 minutes) : U2 megamix - two parts beat as one PT 2

and just in case you're curious to hear the music I make and release myself (on accu records and wide awake records) TOYSFORNOISE -- Free downloads / listen
(its all electronic dance music ... some call it acid-tekno)
  2. Nice, I have a 30-minute U2 remix somewhere, great listen.
  3. ehem, so is this 'just' all the songs put into a row and made to one big file, or is there some actual mixing, too ?
  4. no, in no way is this a mix with some sort of mp3 pc-dj lining up all tunes

it is original vinyl records, that are acually being mixed for real, resulting in sometimes beautifull, sometimes strange and some awkward combinations of tracks (or re-mixes that were all officially released) ... the difficulty is that you cant allways mix them due to tempo ... or slight tempo changes. where possible I try to make mixes, but please understand it is by no means a pre-selected list of tracks, its all out of the blue, live as live should be ... which is indeed very tricky, as it is all hands on (the) deck(s) once the recording has started. it all depends on the on the spot selection, so all together I am very happy with this result .... need to make another one with more joshua tree and other albums (and maybe do make a pre-selection, see how that works out , but then again, I do these things mostly for the spontaneous charge-discharge ...

And I do admitt that in this mix there is one instance where I was too enthusiastic, mixing in a track too early, quickly faded it out again, but those two seconds were subtly cut out of the mix on the mac that recorded the whole mix .... so viva the vinyl, and hurray for the mac ...

let me know what ya think of the mix, if you are gonna listen to it that is ... is this mixing to you ?
  5. thanks for the answer. I understand your intentions. however, I don't think I could be bothered to listen to one big file of more than a hundred minutes :-D.
I thought you did a mix where, eg, suddenly Gloria blends into Two Hearts Beat As One, you know...smth like a big medley with twists and such
