yup. definitely in the process of getting F-ed over by them.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said he is planning to issue a live album for free later this year. The band are aiming to record one of this summer's shows, part of their massive Viva La Vida tour, and let fans who attend the gigs have a free copy.
The band's most recent album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends was the biggest selling album worldwide of 2008 shifting 6.8 million copies and was reissued at the tail end of the year in a deluxe edition with the EP Prospekt's March. They recently went back into the studio to work on new material for the follow-up, although Chris Martin was told to stay away from the studio for a fortnight at the request of producer Brian Eno.
Martin said the live album was meant as a thank you to fans for heading to the band's show at a time when money is tight, although they are still working out the logistics.
He told The Sun today: “We’re playing a lot of shows in the summer and I think what we would like to do is — bearing in mind the recession we are in — record the live album then give it as a gift. We are just trying to work out how to do that.
“It’s a way of saying thank you. “It’s a tough economy and people are paying a lot of money for tickets. We are trying to work out a way that, when you hand your ticket in at the door, you get given the recording.”
