  2. do you not think traders kinda restrict the rest of us from a lot of material yeah? I'm not familiar with the trading buisness so i'm not going to tell you to fuck yourself or anything. I understand why they hold on to stuff and all that and you are pretty generous as i've saw. You've uploaded stuff at my request and I thank you for it. I just cannot use torrents and get a little pissed that I cant have any videos. I guess thats just the buisness

Anyway if you would use torrents, you couldn't even trade, just because the most of the traders have the torrents you could dwonload even sooner than you (if you understand my strange sentence).

I have had (until a week ago) 1 MB broadband!, and I used torrents a lot. For me, a 4,7 DVD lasted about 30 hours.
Since I can't leave the PC ON all the nite (as the majority of the people does), a DVD was about 4 days for me. Worth waiting, trust me...

8MB? 1MB? Wow, you two are doing alright. I'm on a crappy 256k line - but that's the standard in Australia. We can get 1.5MB as a just-affordable option (about $129 p/m).

Here in Spain the standard and average nowadays is 1 or 2MB, but many people have even 8 or 14 MB p sec, and only for a few dollars per month... Maybe the most expensive here is 50 $ p/m!
  8. I envy you people...here we pay a relatively high value for a 500k connecton...if only i was born in a rich country.

It's ridiculous, in even Hong Kong they're getting 100Mbps. Bloody Telstra (main telecom besides Optus who honestly aren't much better) are controlling the lines and DSL (digital subscriber lines) and unfortunately have a stupid idea that ONLY they, are to use the lines to give people 1.5MB maximum or 24Mbps but you get a paltry and honestly crappy 200-400MB downloads - which in my opinion SUCKS. But Telstra say oh yeah we can control the lines how we want. But when other providers build something there, they have no qualms in setting up lines there to compete because they know these other providers charge A LOT LESS and Telstra think they are charging about right prices (read above). Sorry, that is utter crap and something that 99.98% of Australians realise. The other 0.2% think that downloading Word documents and buying iTunes music (encoded at 128Kbps) is great whilst paying $79. They don't know, broadband is cheaper and other companies with half-decent service and plans DO exist.

There's other options like cable, ADSL2/2+ but for more than $149, then no thanks. It really is pathetic. The worst thing is you pay almost half a million dollars for a house and you can't get broadband (cable only), but in a less area you'll get the *almost* better broadband. So here in Australia the *affordable* standard is 256Kbps, with 30Kb download speeds and about 5-7Kbps upload speed. And lots of Australians are still on dial-up due to these poor Telstra-made decisions.

Of course you can get 3G (wireless), but I and others don't want to pay upwards of $129 for 200-400MB. But now the Government is all on top of getting better broadband for Australia because of an election. Coincidence? One would think. I'm coming to Spain to enjoy those 14Mbps speeds. TheChicken, what are you paying thereabouts? Not exact amount but somewhere around there - be interesting to find out.

I actually remember an ad I saw in a computer magazine once. "What could be more Australian than meat pies and Telstra?" Modify that line to say "What could be more Australian than meat pies and half-decent service?" I like that one a lot more.

Anyway, back to the video sources. You can always do searches on search engines for video downloads, of which you come across some really cool stuff.

www.u2discotheque.com has some cool stuff which you can try
www.u2exit.com has some videos, albeit in poor Windows Media / RealMedia quality
    www.interference.com has some stuff too

Try those out for those interested. I get heaps and heaps of rare stuff like early demos, album sessions, soundchecks etc from Interference.

What do you think how everybody else started? Everyone starts from Zero or with very few shows.

That's why my ratio is 0,31 now. When I get to install uTorrent again, I wil share until my ratio reaches at least 0,75. So better shut up of you don't know what are you talking about.

Are you saying that your ratio dropped from ~0,9 to ~0,3 because of one single DVD?

Yes and No. There is a considerable amount of shows that aren't (yet) shared online. But that's not done to restrict anyone from any material.
Then there is a maybe even higher number of recordings that aren't traded at all.
I personally am convinced that there is at least one audio recording from every concert since the Unforgettable Fire tour and that there's video for at least 75% of all concerts since Popmart.

    Yes I am.

I set the uploading speed to 1kbps while downloading, in order to have higher DL speed. But this time I couldn't share anything after the DL because of the crashing...
