Personally, I really like almost every song, except for Magnificent and Moment of Surrender (funny, I believe U2 called those songs their best, wasn't it?). But I'm very, very confused how a genius like Eno (who actually is God) could let this completely trash can mastering go by. There's really only one song I can listen to without getting a serious headache: Stand Up Comedy. All other songs are filled to the brim, way too bass heavy which is even more uncomfortable because the bass is compressed like hell on every track except Stand Up Comedy. No dynamics, no space, no air, no headroom, just maximum volume, destroying all those wonderful details and layers. I feel like crying. Another good, maybe even brilliant album slayered for the iPod generation.
YOU STUDIO ENGINEERING BUTCHERS GIVE ME BACK THE NINETIES! Lol.

    Looking forward to the vinyls.

Yes, you're right. But - extremely naively - I was hoping it was a certain effect they wanted to achieve for that particular song. Weird mix, very compressed lows, almost no mids, well funnily I thought GOYB could have it. Not the complete album.
And indeed it's even worse than I described: it's clipping all over. I've never heard it so badly on any album before. I might buy the vinyls too. Just curious if it might be better.

  3. lol. Perhaps the lossless files will be a tad better to your ears. I'm not a huge audiophile myself but the copy of the album we have now doesn't sound all that great. Too bass heavy as you mentioned. I'll only judge from the lossless. No vinyl turntable sadly.
  4. The solo in Breathe is very nice. A nice little suprise from the edge when he plays a part like Pride solo(live version) I think that song is going to rock live.
  5. OMG I have had a long day at work and just logged on!!! And I cant find it!!! Im gonna go crazy if i dont go crazy tonight!!!!
  6. So I'm gonna go shut all the lights off in my house....listen to this album for the first time, and really dig in.

I've heard my 30 second previews, I've heard Boots, I've heard the beach clips, blah blah blah. From what I hear a lot of the songs are really good, I can't wait.
