How does this match with your statement that you downloaded more than 100 DVD from U2 torrents?
So you downloaded more than 400 GB. You said your ratio was ~0,9. So you had uploaded more than 350 GB.
This one DVD with it's 4,X GB doesn't put your ratio down that much.

    I've downloaded about 45 or 50 shows from U2T.
The rest of them (about 70) are lossy AVI flies converted to DVD video with Nero, most of them from Spiralstaicase's blog and from a spanish site called U2EastLink.

Anyway, why are you asking me that? Don't you have your own problems?
  3. So you downloaded 180 GB and uploaded 150.
Same story, one DVD will not bring your ratio down that much.

I keep asking you that because something isn't matching in your statements.
Sorry mate, no problems in my life right now. I'll tell when there'll be some.

Now please please tell me that you never ever traded out any of these avi sourced DVDs.

And I'll be here to listen to you, be sure...

Who do you think am I? Of course not.

I have traded all the Yearbooks DVDs (you know them, I suppose), a few Elevation Rare Concerts and some Early shows. Of course no Mp3 nor AVi sourced...
  5. in all truth and honesty guys, is downloading lossless worthwhile. How much better is it compared with bog standard mpe. If I download an mp3 show then the same show in lossless, how much of an improvement will there be

That's absolutely true, but what about the Hard Disk space? I'm a young boy who has only 40 BG and no cash to buy a external device...
  7. I should have asked that aswell. Are the hard-drive disadvantages over-looked because of a great increase in quality?

Actually, I'd only recommend lossless audio.

But, if you only want to listen to the music through earphones or PC Speakers, then it doesn't really matter if you have lossy or lossless audio.

If you have a decent hi-fi system go lossless. If not, stick to lossy.

Just make sure to keep sources clear.

Nowadays, you can buy a 500 GB HD for 100€. DVD and CD blanks for less than 1€.
So the size issue is negligible.

    Right. Absolutely true.

I've done the test: the same file, on my earphones, one file 5,7 MB, the other one 67,3 MB weight. Both sounded exactly the same...

i'll stick with the lossy then. I'm mostly an earphone listener. I'm running a laptop and like the portability so a brick-sized external hard-drive wouldn't be very practical for me. I'll get one for back up though. already had one crash this year

    Exactly the same goes here..
